Hi all

Was just wondering whether anyone had stayed at The Fortress near Galle in Sri Lanka over the last couple of years? Just had a couple of questions to which I've been unable to find answers so far (though will probably end up contacting the hotel directly if needed).

1. What is the general area around the hotel like and are there are a good selection of restaurants nearby? We are going B&B and the restaurants in the hotel are meant to be quite pricey (at least relatively speaking). Plus we're quite keen to eat in more local restaurants most of the time anyway! If anyone knows about this or even better have some suggestions for restaurants we should visit, that'd be great!

2. The rooms all have DVD players... not that we're planning on going there to watch TV, but we are going in the height of rainy season, so if it is belting it down at any point and we just fancied chilling out in our room, does anyone happen to know whether the players are multiregion and therefore worth taking a handful of DVDs with us?
