Hello all, I am new to this topic I was going to Cyprus this new year 2008/09 but Thomson Holidays canceled it with six weeks to go, so here we are now going to Egypt, and I know nothing about it at all only it can be hot.
So what do I need to know?
1 what sort of plugs do they have there round two pin or are they like ours three pin. Two pin
2 will we need a visa to go to Marsa Alam. yes
3 can we use Engish money for tips as we are A I, or do we have to have there money. Yes
4 are the mosquitos meaner than the ones in the Med. No
5 is the local beer any good. We find it OK in Egypt

Thanks Briar for your reply, I have seen on other sites as well as this one that it can be windy in Marsa Alam so as to make it unsafe to go in the sea. Is it like this all the time, or is it just summer or winter?

Marsa Alam is a lovely fishing village (although its population has increased dramatically in the last few years) which is a favourite of both local fisherman and scuba divers. The scuba divers seem to visit all year around to look at the wonderfull underwater wild life so i assume that swimming is safe the majority of the time, you might find it useful going on a divers forum and asking on there as they seem to be the people in the know when it comes to the sea in Marsa Alam
