The Caprabo supermarket on the Pollensa road, just as you enter the port is the biggest and best. All the locals shop there.
For restaurant and other reviews search this forum, there are lots.

Caprabo have been taken over by Eroski Syp - you might find signs still up giving directions for Caprabo but the actual supermarket will be Eroski Syp. Bip supermarkets are also te ones that locals use - not sure if there are any in Puerto Pollensa but there are 2 in Cala Bona/Cala Millor and both are off the main drag so might be worth your while going up a street or 2 from the front and having a wander along.

In the main they are a fair bit cheaper than the many Spar's you'll come across.

thanks both of you for your replies hopefully we'll save a few euros holidaying on a budget this year!

My only thought on the money-saving aspect, is that in August the weather will be boiling hot (hopefully!) so that you may want to "weigh up" prices vs distance to lug heavy items like drinking water/beer/wine/fizzy drinks, and come to some compromise....yes the Spars on every corner are a bit more expensive, but sometimes it is worth it for the convenience.
So maybe use the big supermarket for some things, and the local one for others
otherwise you will be wasting all your savings on extra drinks to cool off ;)
we have even been known to plan our route to the shops going on round 3 sides of a block on the shady side of the street rather than 1 side in the sun....it gets THAT hot ! best go before 10 am, or in the evening, if you feel like being that organised on holiday.....

Hope you have a great time...I'm sure you will :)

Ask around and see if there's a Lidl nearby - we had a bit of a walk to the one in Cala Millor but it was worth it - we got packs of 8 small cartons of juice for €1.39 for the kids - it really did make a difference. We weren't S/c this year but if we had of been I think we'd have done a big shop in there to see us thru'.

We've done it in the heat of the day and from experience in Cala Millor and Cala Bona they're not THAT far away from the main drag - seriously you're talking metres not miles!

Hi, i just read your post, were going in august also staying at villa concha, we stayed there 2 years ago and it was lovely, all the staff are really friendly and the apartments are spotless! When are you going? We're off on the 5th august

Bamburghsue - it's right at the bottom of the resort. If you walked down the main shopping drag as I call it you come to a road to the left, across the road at 10/11 oclock is Sportsmans Bar - if you carry on the road straight down you'll find it on your left hand side. They have a fresh bakery in there as well as the car park so you can get baguettes etc fresh.

If you take your re-useable shopping bags with you (the fabric type ones) it makes it a lot easier on the hands than normal carrier bags.
