Just back from 2 weeks in Icmeler and thank god only heard the bloody Cha Cha slide once. Apart from that not much has changed, still getting Kiss Kiss, and the stuff that you can hear on radio back in UK

Our hotel played Dum Tek Tek which was the Turkish Eurovision song from a few years ago. Good tune whilst in Turkey...not so good back in the UK.

But they played and played it :que

Turkey's entry in this year's Eurovision Song Contest, which made second place, is "We Could be the Same" performed by the group "maNga".

As you would expect, we now hear it a lot over here at the moment!

I really like Manga, they are very good.

Yes, and it's a superb song. I may be biased after living here for over 13 years now, but I do think it was a much better entry than the winning one.

The group were new to me but I understand "maNga" perform alternative rock and rap rock, with a touch of Anatolian melodies. In 2009 they won the Best Turkish Act award from MTV Turkey and consequently the Best European Act award in MTV Europe Music Awards.

That makes a refreshing change from countries 'creating' a group or single artist just for Eurovision.

I used to lika Manga when I lived out there, they must have been going since at least 2004 as I can remember them when my daughter was a tiny baby.

I thik the UK should try putting in a well known group for Eurovision, it must do better than anything than we have had for the last few years !

One song they played continuously out there which I loved was called Alors On Danse which is by a guy called Stromae. I believe it's French and I've never heard it before but now I can't stop listening it. :D

There was song played in the Marti myra and I wish I knew what it was - it was always played at the end of the mini disco just as the show was about to start - it was a loud uplifting song designed to get everyone in upbeat for the show, a man singing the lyrics and what sounded like a trumpet going 'bah bah' with a 12 bar blues background. I think the man was singing in Turkish and now and again he would shout 'boom'. Its a terrible description but it's the only way I can describe it!!

Would anyone know what it is??
