First of all, apologies to mods in putting this here, but wasn't sure where to put it and thought it might be of interest to some.
I took out a TC credit card when I booked my holiday, basically to dodge the 2.5% charge which would have cost me around £50 on top of my holiday, so a saving there, I then had 44 travel points put onto the card which could be redeemed off TC's products, great.
on the website you can now print off a voucher which entitles you to 1% cashback on currency, so I did that, went down TC's today to get my dollars and got £5 off plus the £44 pounds off my points from my card, thus saving me a fair bit, even though the rate wasn't great !!
I was chuffed with what I got though.
hope this helps anyone !!!!!
cheers,
juby
I saw the 1% cashback voucher too and have printed it off. I'm not going on holiday (Turkey) until July but have been checking the exchange rates from time to time - sometimes even with the 1% cashback Thomas Cook are offering, you can still pay less exchanging elsewhere (The Cheque Centre and Post Office had better rates when I checked) so don't automatically assume the cashback is a "bonus". The deal you got with the TC credit card has saved you a fair bit though, hasn't it - as the saying goes "every little helps"
I thought about buying last week just to get the points but i still got a better rate elsewhere.
If you are getting Euros, try crown currency exchange, they always give you a better rate than anyone on the high street. I have been getting my $ from there for months now, very good.
