Has anyone recently booked a package holiday with Thomas Cook and if so, what amount of fuel supplement have they been charged?
Since other tour operators appear to have lowered their fuel supplements, Thomas Cook seem to be charging exhorbitant amounts. This seems to me to be sharp practice particularly as the price of oil has decreased since the introduction of the supplement.
Any thoughts or help would be appreciated.
Thanks.
I have been charged £40 per person.
Same here Sheppo. That is for a holiday to Rhodes. I have also booked a month stay in Tunisia in November with Air Tours and have only been charged £15 per person! Work that one out!!
we are going to turkey with thomascook and had to pay £40 fuel supp each so extra £160 !!!
why did you want to know?
i wander how they work these sums out

That was my whole point really, why are Thomas Cook charging so much, particularly as the price of oil has dropped?
I see fuel supplements as a profit booster for airlines, BA profits rocketed after fuel supplements came in. The companies that a low or no fuel supplements have calculated the fuel supplement into the cost of the holiday or ticket price. Checking out differn holidays on the web, thomson don't charge fuel supplements but there overall price is not cheaper than thomas cook for a identical hotel.
Thomas Cook are probably the most expensive tour operator when it comes to fuel supplements. Others are cheaper. What really annoys me as an agent is that their initial price might look cheap but once you've gone to the next screen to book - they add on fuel, APD, meals and luggage charges. The advertised price is the base price not the full charge paid.
Thanks all for taking the time to reply. Won't use Thomas Cook again that's for sure!
