Hi, hope you can help?

My wife, 2 kids (aged 3 and 2) will be flying on Flight TOM 2142 from Manchester to Menorca at 6:00am on Monday, June 18th, and returning to Manchester on Flight TOM 2143 at 12:30pm on Monday, July 2. Do you have any idea what aircraft will be flying this route, as we can book our seats a few weeks before we go.

many thanks!

The strange thing with regards my flight is that First Choice as of this morning is still selling premium seats for both flights. I made a dummy booking of my exact holiday and it is telling me to hurry up as only 3 more premium seats are available.

Naturally, I have taken a screen print of this ;)

Given that usually a plane with the highest number of premium seats is sent to Cancun from Gatwick that could only mean that now a plane with fewer or no premium seats is going to be used.

Be interesting to know if those with standard seats have been able to select their seats Mark. Lets hope it's just a question of the plane type and configuration not loaded onto their system yet ... if not go for the jugular Mark .

Hi

We are flying to Cancun from Glasgow on 22nd May - TOM 866 & returning on 5th June TOM 867.

It is too early to know what aircraft we will be on and where the plane will come before leaving from Glasgow?

Many thanks

DGT,

Welcome onboard :tup
You'll get a seating plan when you log in if you do it online. MAN-MAH-MAN (TOM2142/3) should be a Boeing 737-800. I'll be able to confirm it from May. You'll find extensive aircraft information on our What Aircraft? guide (link below).

paula2203,

GLA-CUN-GLA (TOM866/7) are usually operated by a former Thomsonfly Boeing 767-300/ER. I'll know the flight prior to yours from May.

First Choice holidays wrote back to me (pretty quick) advising me:

Thank you for your email regarding your seats.

I can confirm that the aircraft for this flight has not yet been confirmed an therefore the seating plan is not available. I am sorry for any inconvenience caused. Customers who have paid to sit together will be automatically seated together.

Thank you for taking the time to write to us, if you require any further information please do not hesitate to contact me or my colleagues.

They haven't confirmed that I will get the paid for premium seats but instead address the point about seating together which I didn't even raise.

At least they are on notice though that in the event that no premium seats are provided they are in breach of contract with the resulting consequences.

Still not feeling optimistic about this at all.

However if this finishes up in court as the last time I don't think the judge will be very happy. Not once but Twice they have done it to you.

Don't forget their definition of sitting together is across aisles and even one behind the other.

Yes, hence the reason that I wanted to book the specific seats this week and couldn't and still can't!

MarkJ - I appreciate your frustration....but isn't this a slightly different case from the one you had a couple of years ago?? If I remember rightly, you were refused Premium upgrade already paid for, on return flight, EVEN THO' there was a Premium section on the plane due to change of aircraft.
Surely if they do change the plane, & they give you advance notice of this change and a refund of the Premium surcharge then they are meeting their side of the contract. The only thing that you could argue is for full cancellation?

Have sent off an email to First Choice Holidays insisting I get supplied with premium seats, else another meeting in Court will follow.

Wow is it really that serious? I thought airlines reserved the right to change aircraft for operational reasons should they need too?

Rogerdoger,

Follow the link on our What Aircraft? guide (link below) for the inflight magazine, and it's all detailed in their plus the additional menu card that's available onboard selected flights (medium haul). It's normally ready-meals like saussage and mash, shepherds pie and beef casserole.

It is when they are still flogging premium seats for these flights.

Besides, if you order a Mercedes car from a dealer, would you be happy to be supplied with a Ford with the difference of price to be refunded?

Yes, Ts and Cs do state they can substitute planes. No problem with that. I don't care if it is a Boeing, Airbus or whatever providing the facilities they are contracted to provide are indeed provided. Premium Economy is what I paid for and I don't care if it is on a Boeing or Airbus plane.

Brewerdave,

Last time I discovered something was wrong was when I discovered 2 days after we departed that money was refunded into my bank account. I didn't query it at the time (too much enjoying my holiday) but it turned out to be that they knew but failed to advise me that we never got to fly back premium despite them being more than happy to take my money.

This is just looking like a similar situation to me.

We had a similar situation with First Choice a few years ago, before the merger and before you could book online. I wanted to book our premium seats outbound and was told that we couldn't. One employee actually told me there was no premium on the aircraft, even though they were still selling them. After a few weeks we found out that they had subbed the outbound to Thomas Cook. We did eventually manage to book premium seats, but Thomas Cook premium was certainly not First Choice premium. Just to add insult to injury we had a 12.5 hour delay.

Can anyone tell me which Gatwick terminal Thomson flight TOM766 flies from. I am booked on this flight on 12th September 2012 going to Tunisia but I need to know whether it flies from north terminal or south terminal so i can book a lounge. Thank you
