:D Hi, - I look on this site quite often, its great if there'e just 2 or 4 of you wanting to get away, - but because there is 3 of us it's very rare you find 3 tickets up for auction

Thomson also have their holidays on Ebay too, my mum recently got a holiday for three to Turkey for £120.

bbb,

If you win a Thomsons auction holiday for 4, you don't have to use the 4th ticket.
ie you bid on a holiday for 4 and win it - winning bid say £100.
You pay £20 per advertised ticket for admin = £80 so your total holiday price for the 3 of you would be £180.
You are not penalised for not using the 4th ticket, and the price you pay is per booking (so you're not charged extra if one of any of your party are children or for underoccupancy either).

:D Hi Elaine, you know what? It never crossed my mind to do that! What an idiot! , but next time I see a holiday I fancy I will get bidding, as I've seen some great hols go at bargain prices! Thanks for that. BBB.

I have tried to use these in the past but haven't been successful with a bid unfortunately. Actually it wasn't Thomson but one of the other big firms, this was about 5 years or so ago.

My friend got a 15 night caribbean cruise for £750 each where the brochure price was £1500 each.

That was the one Tracey - that site was excellent, then they changed it and then it disappeared completely.

Excellent if you don't mind where you go - and let's face it at the price you can end up paying you'll probably end up pleasantly surprised.

Won a Thomson auction for 2 flights to Lanzarote for £70 last Spring. Also won two holiday auctions to Cyprus with the now defunct Mytravel auction site 3 years ago. No problems with either booking.

P.S. Does anyone know why using the word Thomson in a posting on this forum automatically becomes an underlined web link to another website (http://www.anrdoezrs.net/click-1630017-10387309) ? One for the Mods methinks or is it only my PC that sees this ? I've changed my profile to disallow HTML but it doesn't have any effect.

Hi Robbo

There are a couple of the travel operators names when typed in will take you straight to their website, strangely they are both part of Tui, mmmmmm, why is that then ?

Portland

Thomson

If you trace back on your link Robbo you will be redirected to a page about spam -

Hi All,
I've just discovered that Thomson Holidays ofer a Holiday Auction site, it seems too good to be tru - flight & accomodation for 4 to one of their featured resorts for next to no cash!
Has anyone had any dealings with this way of buying a holiday and if so is it really good value for money or just a rip off?

Thanks

Sal

as far as i know thomsons do auctions on ebay, and reading the small print you need to pay a charge of £20 per person on top of what you paid for the holiday for starters, then you have to pay for transfers inflight meals and any other extras if you want them, dont think its a rip off as they are a large company and you are basically getting a cheap holiday even with the extra to pay.

Hi: They also do them on their own site here: http://www.thomsonauctions.co.uk/ and also latedeals.com think they are the same ones that appear on ebay as well. Karen

:D Hi there, I know a couple of people who have won a thomson holiday auction -and everything went smoothly - like someone else mentioned the transfers, and late booking fee, are added on top for the winning bidder.

I have noticed though, in the last 15 minutes of the auction ending, the price does seem to go up quite a bit, Think most people will wait till the auction is ending, in the hope of getting a bargain, (Like they do on ebay - myself included  )

If you are wanting a holiday in next 3 to 4 weeks, I wouldn't hesitate on booking this way.

Good Luck,

Regards, BBB
