If you can cook your own try Margao fish market. Tiger Prawns 180-200rps per kilo shelled and cleaned. Salad, ie. Toms, cucumber and peppers and an onion and garlic for the prawns 40rps. We dont cook chips just have fresh crusty bread from Bread and More or rolls from the breadman. A bottle of white wine 200 - 500rps depending on type from a wine shop makes a good meal.

Hmm all will be revealed very shortly, wondering to myself now what is the most people have ever paid as I know it often depends on the days market price, they were pretty big but I still feel agrieved at what I paid.

These are the prawns in question for 4 of us, when I went to pick up my daily bill they charged us 1200 rupees for 3 prawns each, now I didn`t question or ask beforehand as I knew the owners very well or so I thought, I will tell the full tale later in my report.

I am sure we have paid the equivalent of £10 before now (but they were truly huge - in fact I struggled to eat 3 and so did my husband who has a much bigger appetite). This was a couple of years ago. I have paid similar for "lobster" before now which I do feel is a rip off because they are not lobsters, more like large cray fish.

We paid 700 rupees each last year so that now almost confirms my worst fear, thanks for the prices, this has really saddened me now and it played on my mind while on holiday too :(

We paid 400 for 3 (no chips or salad) at St Anthonys shack on New years day.

We always tell people to ask the price of fresh fish and prawns before ordering then you can make a decision. They will charge what they think you will pay especially if you are new to them or a new comer to Goa. We were ripped off recently as we were buying lunch for some friends and forgot to ask first..but having said that we would not have refused to buy.

Good advice normally coco but having known these people for 9 years I wouldn`t expect to be ripped off so blatently :(

Glad some other peeps noticed the price hikes from last year.
Right across the board if you ask me :(
From 10% up to MASSIVE 40% on some items

FTV put us all out of our misery :think

WHO GOT THE EXTRA PRAWN MATE :D

talking to an indian friend who owns a restaraunt in calangute,he was also complaining about the price of fish, saying it was all going for export and he was having to pay the same prices. He quoted yesterday tiger prawn 12 tothe kilo at 1100rps
