Hi,
No matter what time in the season in Corfu the swimming pools are always cold.

Hi Shirley

We have never been as early as May but we have been in September, and I found the water temp in both the pool and sea to be very similar to that of the Artic Ocean.................. FREEZING, mind you there were severe thunder storms nearly every day. :omg
The records say that the sea temp in May should be about 63 degrees :zip

Here is one local that loves the water no matter what the temperature is, she is a real beach babe and you will probably see her down in the sea at the harbour in Kassiopi .

She is a gorgeous and very friendly Newfoundland and a well know personality in Kassiopi, and aptly her name is SCUBA.

I'll just have to grin and bear it then. THe one consolation is the water looks lovely and clear. The dog is gorgeous and seems to be having a good time.

It is true the weather in May is unpredictable. What is predictable is that it is a beautiful time of year. The wild flowers are still out, the fire flies make the olive groves a fairy land and everywhere is every shade of green. I doubt the sea will be warm enough for any but the brave, though many have been swimming here in Acharavi for a few weeks. The warmth of the sea does depend on the weather we had in April, which has been good this year. The pools do take longer to warm up.
I beg to differ about September, I, who does'nt swim until July, find the sea like a warm bath in September and pools too are generally warm. If there have been end of season storms it can cool things down but the sea is warm well into October.
My Labrador will often be seen on Acharavi beach doing her bit for the environment collecting discarded water bottles!

HI,
I'm normally an optimist but I've somehow geared my mind to expect rain. I'm not picturing myself on the beach or lying around the pool. More like having a drink in one of the tavernas or a wander round the shops in Corfu town (not what I normally do on Holiday). This way it will come as a pleasant surprise if I do get to sunbathe.

I have just found out that SCUBA the lovely Newfoundland dog pictured (4 posts) above has been killed in a hit and run accident in Michelangelo village
There will be a new SCUBA this year, apparently one of the old Scuba's son's or daughter's.
