So everyone has had a year of tolls and has learnt a bit.
As a visitor for a fortnight I have to get from Lagos to Faro by 10.00am so the EN 125 is not a viable alternative to the A22, but we spend most of the fortnight well north and in the Alentejo so our only A22 useage is the first and last days.
The alternatives appear to be pay for a gizmo for 14 days which we will not use for 12 of them or break their law. Neither of these alternatives particulally appeals. Last year we refused the gizmo which was on the car and, presumably, deactivated. We intended to ask the agent of our apartment to pay but although we audibly registered on the toll gantry we never appeared at a PO. We think that the previous hirer had paid in advance, thank you.
I read this year that some hirers have a gizmo for 20E including 15E of toll charges. Whilst I wouldn't expect to incur that much it would appear to be the best option but how do I find hirers who do this. It would also be good if they did full to full and I could use them through my Auto-Europe.
