Travelling to Tolon, Eleanna apts with Kosmar on 15th October - has anybody heard anything about these apartments? (they seem to be right on the beach )
First time to the mainland after travelling to many of the main islands in the last 12 years.
Any tips on day trips, bars (with sky sports), restaurants would be gratefully recieved.
Tolon seems to be ideally situated to see some of the main sights on the mainland. What could i fit in in a 7 day trip?
Is the one day trip to Athens worth doing?
Sorry for asking so many questions, many thanks for any replies.

Beds are changed twice a week but no cleaning while we were there for 2 weeks. Bin in bathroom only emptied twice a week instead of what used to happen daily.
restaurant next door has now closed.
There are some good bars and restuarants, a good one is The Romvi on the beach.
Express Bar very nice and Manolis very pleasant and friendly.
Yes worth doing the Athens day trip, tiring but well worth it. Also if you are into history, Mycenae and Epidavros are well worth it also.
Arrived back last night from a holiday in Tolon. Some of the tavernas/bars on the beach will be closed but don't worry because there are still plenty open.
There are some wonderful sites close by to Tolon but you might find it cheaper to hire a car than to go on the organised trips. I think the trip to Athens was 50 euros each. I agree with hurdler that Mycenae and Epidavros are worth visiting. If you do hire a car and like wine a visit to the wine shop in Nemea is worthwhile. We bought a very nice red wine in a plastic 1 1/2 litre bottle for 2 euros.
If you are interested in watching football the lotto shop (just below the post office) usually shows all the English games (sometimes 2 at once). It is the haunt of many of the ex pats who go to watch their team play. The Express bar has two plasma screens so I'm sure if you ask they will put on the game you are interested in.
With regards to restaurants, we found the food at taverna Marina (behind the post office) to be very nice and reasonably priced. Maria's, on the bend, was also good but slightly more expensive. On the beach our favourite is Akgorilda (think the spelling is wrong), it is just past To Steki, before the jetty with the tables. We also like Chez Gilles but that is on the main street going towards the sandy beach just past Hotel Tolon, Chez Gilles is the most expensive place we ate in but the food is delicious and well cooked. We also ate at O Nikos (opposite the ice cream bars) the food is simple, well cooked and very cheap.
WE were in Tolo in July and you are definitely going to be spoilt for choice for trips. We did the Athens day and thought it was worth doing. I've always wanted to see the Acropolis and it didn't disappoint. Mycenae, Epidavros are worht doing too and pretty close to each other & I'd recommend hiring a taxi for a morning. We did that. You could do the two & be back for some sunbathing PM as I think the organised trips are 2 separate all day ones. ( although Epidavros included a trip up the Corinth Canal which was pretty good!) But there again if you go to Athens you get a 20 minute coffee stop both ways at the canal, so you have photo opportunities anyway.)
The only place that hasn't been mentioned is the town of Napflion----- 20 minutes by bus( ithink the fare was 1euro) This town is lovely--- once the capital of Greece when it was ruled by the Venetians. Lovely streets full of restaurants and very nice craft shops which contrast with the (dare I say it!)......tat available in Tolo.
I'd 2nd the food at the Romvi (where we stayed) IMO best value/best food in town. Courgette fritters/ mousaka.....everything just super and if you're a Retsina drinker the house version is excellent!
Tolo is a wonderful base for the area and when you're facing the beach the view is stunning, but I was disappointed in 'the strip'. A bit tacky and not as nice as small towns I've stayed in on the islands. But I'm sure you'll have a great time.....we did!
