Madeira is supposed to be for the "Newly-weds and nearly-deads"! :D :D
I worked there from 1999 to last year and there is plenty for you to do. Plenty of restaurants and bars especially down the "Old Quarter" of Funchal which are open to all hours. Taxi fares are cheap and depending which hotel you are staying in there is generally a show every night. Which hotel will you be at and when will you be going?

We went when I was 35 and my wife 32. We work hard so go on holiday to relax and enjoy it - we tend to avoid 'pictures on menus' resorts and decided on Madeira as it was warm at Chirstmas and not too far for a week. Madeira has plenty to offer, but I do advise getting a car for a few days.

Havent really looked at hotels yet but we would be going the first week in October.

Everyone seems to have different opinions. Some people say its full of older people & they're nothing to do later at night, some people say its great!!

Maybe a week would be enough??
