How many of you are travelling. Have done the Limo and to be honest some of them are rather hit and miss and can be rather dirty. If just 2 travelling I would just hop in a yellow cab. Dont use an unlicensed cab.

Hi brownetts

Firstly, is this your 1st trip to NY?

Forgot to mention, there are all the usual tourist traps, i.e. Statue of Liberty, Empire State Building etc, are any these of interest to you.

How about the Theatre, what are you interested in?

If we have more insight into your interests this will assist with recommendations.

Hi brownnetts

OK, some of these links may have already been mentioned, but anyway these are the Correct Sites to book with.

First, look at this link: http://www.bigapplegreeter.org/ try and book a Greeter if you can, although they like bookings to be made well in advance, this is the winter months, so you may be lucky.

I have used and recommended the site, and a very valuable service it is.

If you are able to get a greeter, they will show you around certain neighbourhoods, take you on the subway etc, and at the end you will feel more confident about travelling around New York.

For the Theatre book with this site: http://www.broadwaybox.com/

Empire State Building book with this site: http://www.esbnyc.com/index2.cfm?CFID=20481776&CFTOKEN=98809658

For the Museums, we have visited several, this one we found probably to be the best though: http://www.moma.org/

Another good museum we have visited: http://www.guggenheim.org/new_york_index.shtml

As for dinning, depending on your budget look at this link: http://nymag.com/restaurants/

We have also used: http://www.toptable.co.uk/destination/newyork/?refid=ggl05

This is also another good dinning guide we have used: http://www.chowbaby.com/10_2006/restfinder.asp

The above should give you some guidance in assisting with your itinerary, however, if I can assist any further, do not hesitate to ask.

Oh, btw, for some reassurance we have done 7 trips to NY, and used all the above links, with no problems.

Where are you staying within NY?

Empire State Building is a must do especially for a 1st viist but if you have time also do 'top of the rock' you can now go up the Rockefeller centre. I was a much more pleasant experience, no queues and amazing views - you can see ESB and over to SOL and Brooklyn Bridge on one side and then over Central Park on the other. If you can though go up a while before dusk and see the city in daylight, dusk and dark - amazing photo ops.

Here's my last 2 trip reports with links amongst them..
