Not sure if its a travel app as such, but last week we were in a city called Cartagena and completely lost, a couple of us had iPhones and just kind of typed into there where we were and the street name. It brought up a map that had one of those arrows on it that said 'you are here'. Like you used to get in the old days on maps attached to walls at bus and train stations. It was Brilliant, as it was a largish city and we were trying to find the port and it showed us exactly which streets to take - loved it.

That sounds a good app to have Doe :)

sounds like the android map app, it works well but as it connects to the Internet for the maps its quite expensive to run

Has anyone used any travel apps?
I have a blackberry and use the bb travel app. I booked a long weekend in Amsterdam today, It picks the info up from my emails and stores it. So, although I booked flights and apartment separately, it stores it under the one trip. It alerts me to changes in flight status. It also has a currency converter, world clock and weather section. It probably does a lot more but that's all I use it for.
I also have the BA app. It texts me as soon as the flight opens for check in. Can be handy if you want to book specific seats. I can also check in when I'm away. My ticket can be stored on my phone and I can show that at check in. I haven't actually done that yet :)

I have a tripit account which I send my emails to and that put flights and hotel booking together and it emails you just before each trip. , will have to get that BA app though ! But I really should get an iPhone , my flippy Motorola thing is nearly 6 years old ! And the battery dies every day , Im just not into mobile phones , and I hate texting .

I'm a bit of a numpty with techno stuff, but last year hubby and I were in Ramsgate and we needed a hotel for the night. I used my phone and clicked on hotels and it brought up a list of hotels in our area. By tapping on the hotel nearest to where we were, I was able to ring them up, book the hotel, then follow the GPS to the location. I was really pleased with myself as we wouldn't have had a clue otherwise, apart from trailing the streets. :tup

I'm hopeless with phones- sometimes I go out and leave it sat on the end of the side board and when I come back in and see it sat there, I think 'oh, I should have taken that with me, just in case'.

Youngest son was ashamed to be seen with me and my old phone, so he bought me a touch screen/internet access all singing and dancing LG job.

A waste of money (for me) phones don't float my boat - I use it occasionally to text someone or make a short call, and that's about my limit - for other members of my family, their phone is like an extra limb, they'd be lost without it.
Sad :rofl
I think I'm showing my age here. :duh

these apps if your not careful can cost a fortune, im on PAG as i dont use the mobile enough to warrant a contract in the first couple of weeks it cost me £20 where i was connecting to the internet without realising,

but the android map app did get me out of trouble when i was stuck out, used it to find a cab company close to where i was stranded

I've got a flightradar app which is great as it shows you all the planes that are flying right now, their flight numbers and where they are in the world!

got that on the laptop... phone is too small for my eyes to make use of it

I remember many moons ago my son was flying on his own, to America to visit his friend. Van messaged me with the link to a flight radar site. The pair of us sat in our homes, watching my son's flight land in America, me with a lump in my throat as my 'little' boy was on that plane. :rofl

I just got iFlight for free for my phone which means I can make sure that when we're in Luxor in a few weeks time we can be sure to make our way to embark our Nile cruise before the Thomson flights arrive from UK.

How cool is that? :tup

Of course, I can also check the flight coming in to Cyprus from Cairo is on schedule as well as our connecting flight from Cairo to Luxor, but hey - it's the first option I find much more useful. ;)

now I wouldn't mind a flight tracker :)

We were thinking of doing a HT app, would people use it?
Reply
Yes I would - have you ideas of what you want for it?

How much would we sell it for?

I think it would be free tbh :)
