My 18 year old son has chronic pancreatitis and we are travelling to the US and Mexico. So far travel insurance for him is £1600 - £3500 which is more than the cost of flights for 4 of us.
I need to find an insurnace company which considers each case individually, my son has had surgery and has had more than one episode of pain. However he has been suffering for 10 years and has never had to be receive medical treatment in hospital during a flare up of pain. We manage the condition through diet and the use of pain relief when he is poorly.
I would be happy to have a loaded excess should we need to claim but it seems that he is being discriminated against due to a medical condition by either being refused insurace cover or if it is offered the cost is huge given that it is very unlikely we will need to use it.
If anyone has used a particular company who can offer reasonably priced insurance please let me know.
Have you tried Insureandgo or Staysure? We use them for existing medical conditions. Also Medical Travel Compared.
I use travelsupermarket or money supermarket as they do a comparison check with insurance e companies and are usually a lot cheaper than pricing individual ones.
As comparethebeermat we did moneysupermarket and arrived at a policy for the family given by a company called HolidaySafe (who Moneysupermarket had given great reviews)
