Dont know but travel agents have a habit of recommending dollar cheques for many places when it is not necessary. It certainly is not necessary for Gambia and as you say you lose out because you will go through two exchange rates.

US currency or UK currency is changed in Gambia.. Its silly as you do pay 2 exchange rates

Your partner definetly got bad advice there, better off with sterling travellers cheques.

HI ,Why would they do it ,simple the company may be running a promo,giving the staff extra commision,even though I have been in sales I was well caught out with euro cheques,my commiserations,cheers maxie :(
