Hi guys - please excuse any typing errors - not slept in 32hrs - had the wonderful 8.30pm overnight flight from JFK to heathrow and finally arrived back in yorkshire at 2pm today. Anyway here goes.
Stayed at the hotel thirty thirty on 30 east 30 street - basically it was a 2 minuite walk from the empire state. Full hotel report will be put on but basically it was somewhere to sleep and nothing else. Arrived with no transfers so ended up going on this coach which took is into grand central then a mini bus took us onto our hotel - return fare for 2 of us was $50 - yes we could have done it for $2 on the subway but we were too tired. Headed straight up to the rockerfella center where the tree was still up. Did the empire state building twice - once at 10pm and the other at 9am - we chose to do the basic viewing which cost bout $16 - the audio tour was slightly more - didnt have to queue on either occasions and was well worth the money. Friday night was spend watching the Nicks at madison square gardens - cost $60 near the back but the views where excellent and it was just funny to watch the americans go nuts!! Saturday - My 30th !! - headed down to see the statue of liberty on the best bargin ever - the staten island ferry - was completely free and took some great shots of the lady herself. From there we headed to ground zero which was very subdude but we just had to pay our respects - From there was the short walk into wall street - You will know when you are there when you see the bronze bull!!. Got the subway and ended up in Greenwich village - quaint little shops but by this time we were far too cold. Highlight of saturday night - went to see Mamma Mia at the Winter Gardens - we were lucky as we have friends who live in new york but from what he said the tickets are like hot cakes and cost us $120 direct from the actual box office. Went round centrel park which was a 20 minuite walk from our hotel - didnt do the iceskating as him indoors thought that it was a rip off - $14 to iceskate then $8 to hire the skates. Sorry if im rambling ..the naked cowboy was strutting his stuff in times square - also did tussauds - cost about $16 and was good for a laugh especially the horror section. Please try and find FAO Scwhatz - we had a go on the piano which was featured in Big - it;s situated just round the corner from trump tower. Finally if you have time - we went on a day trip to the niagra falls canada - cost £235 - lasted 16hrs and was worth every single penny - you get picked up at 6.15 - driven to JFK for the flight to Buffalow where you are met by a fantastic tour guide who takes you everywhere - crossing the boarder into canada. Anyway there is probably loads ive missed but basically you will have a fab time - take loads of cash for maceys etc, take plenty of pictures as you never know who you might bump into - we saw Donald Trump in barnes and Noble. xx

We are going next year as both the hubby and I will be 40 and I can't wait. It's all I can do not to start looking for hotels etc. now!
Went to New York with hubby Nov 2004. It was fantastic! Stayed at Shelbourne Murray Hill Hotel which was a really nice hotel in Manhattan. First time to New York for us and it was a dream! Went up Empire State Building during afternoon and whilst up there, the light changed to dark and we could see all the lights all over New York lit up, fan bloody tastic!!! Fortunately we had a roof top garden on our hotel so we went up there a few times and looked at New York lit up at night!
Went on cruise to Liberty Isle, was a bit chilly but well worth it! The walk around Central Park was awesome! Did the running up and down the steps like Kevin Mc callister in Home Alone, sat on the fountain like 'Friends', rolled about the rocks like Nick in 'Little Nicky' was awesome! I was like a big kid and I'm 45!!!!! Saw the Naked Cowboy in Times Square, and bought our tickets to see 'Fiddler on the Roof' at Times Square. Queued up for a while, but was worth it as we saved quite a bit of money on tickets and got seats 4th row from front!!
Had a look at the Trump Centre very impressive, I could go on and on!
( ooops I have) It waas soooooooo good am going back again in August this year. It definitely is a place you will fall in love with. Take plenty of money for the bargains in Macey's. Oh and before I go, take a trip to Greenwich Village, best jazz bar i have been to there, very classy. Hope you all fulfill your dreams in New York. Am sure you will. Much love Dizz xx
I really loved NY and am pricing to go back over the 1st Nov for my 30th!! I really really want to go back so much!
And Happy Belated Birthday as well!
