HERE is a link to all the Walmarts around Vegas.

No 1 - I think you will need the 206 which crosses LVB above the Stratosphere somewhere. (I think)

No 8 - This is the one we mostly go to and has just been enlarged. You will need the 203 Spring Mountain/Twain, which you can catch at the side of the Fashion Show Mall facing TI.

No 9 - This one is served by the 201 along Tropicana.

So for the No.8 one we would catch the bus going west and wouldn't cross LVB? Is the store easy to spot or will we have to ask the driver to put us off at the correct stop?

Its pretty easy to spot, and it is at the intersection with Rainbow. Transfers to route 101.

I would ask the driver anyway, most of them are really helpful.

Another idea is if you just miss a bus on the way back, (they are every half hour I think) get the 101 to Flamingo and transfer to route 202 to get back to the strip.

Arrgh! Sounds a bit complicated for a simpleton like me. I'd be scared that I wouldn't know where to get the transfer. Mind you, like you said I can always ask the driver (or get a taxi... )

Not complicated at all.

There is a Target store on the corner of Rainbow and Spring Mountain, the stop for going back the way you came is on Spring Mountain (opposite the stop you got off at,) and just round the corner on Rainbow is the other stop.

Does the 203 go straight there? That's my best bet. I take it it's the same bus number coming back?

Its quite a long journey, about 20 minutes or so, so don't panic!!!
