The Tropical Bar is heading out from Cala D'or centre out towards Cala Ferrera (5-10 min walk)

There is a swimming pool there that is used in the day, a bar, a couple of pool tables.

Most nights there is different entertainment on which is usually advertised on a board just outside the bar. You have to walk over a small bridge over a pond/fish pool - beware of the mozzies!!

If I remember right the entertainment doesn't usually start till about 8ish, but as most places if you want a seat near the front best to get there early and judge for the rest of the week best time to get there.

Just behind it, going towards Cala Ferrera there is a Karaoke bar which seems quite popular.

Where abouts are you stopping. Most of the hotels have good entertainment on in outdoor areas too.

Hi
Thanks for the info...we have booked a villa near to the Marina (Cala D'Or side) we would be looking for something with entertainment for kids to start the night or at least where there would be children around as my youngest likes to mix with other kids. There are 7 of us going of various ages but it sounds like The Tropical Bar may be a little bit further than My Dad would want to walk maybe. We also have two 18 year olds going but they will be off to wherever the young crowd are , nightclub etc.
Any hotel entertainment that would suit us we would be grateful of the info.

On google maps our villa seems to be near to Hotel Ceiba if that helps

Thanks again
Jo :cheers

The walk from the marina to the centre of Cala D'or is uphill and a good 10 - 15 minute stroll. The taxis are very reliable and cheap though.

The Rocamarina does good entertainment but for adults only. That is on the opposite side of marina - nr Es Forti beach. My parents have stopped many times and enjoyed it there. The restaurant next to the beach/tennis courts are owned by the hotel but children are welcome there. They do lovely meals.

Sa Marina has entertainment nightly - childrens disco starts at 8 finished 9 - caters for english/dutch and german. Then adult entertainment afterwards - outside in summer months.

Tucan hotel always has good entertainment on when walking past but never actually gone it.

Also to get down to tropicana bar it's in a sort of 'dip' so it's steps either way to the approach.

Esmeralda Beach complex has a huge stage area and a lot more entertainment but that is further than the Tropicana bar.

I'd just have a walk around a few of the hotels and grab an entertainment schedule and see what you fancy on which night.

We normally do kiddy disco then venture off to Cala D'or centre, and watch the world go by - usually at Kalypso Tutti Frutti Cocktail bar - very laid back and children more than welcome. Also crazy golf in Cala D'or centre too.

Hi
Thanks very much for the help much appreciated ...ill have a look at the hotels you suggest...its a great help to know a bit before you go.
Im a bit worried about the uphill walk from the villa into the center for my Dad. Im hoping we are a almost halfway up the hill...ive added a link which shows the exact location of the villa...would you say thats the case...its at the foot of the cul de sac and you can access the villa from either Avinguda des club or Calle de la Hipica....i have been advised that walking to the center by walking up Calle de La Hipica will be easier...hope this is the case :think

Can't get that link to work but looked at another map with those streets on.

Calle de la Hipica is about half way up hill - probably better to walk up Avinguda d'es Club upto Av de Calonge and walk into Cala D'or that way. The road where the villas are are quite shady with trees and quiet but not very well lit so may need a torch. (although your street may be different.)

I've posted another link to a good sight and map

Don't worry - it's not a mountain or anything - but I did like the fact that I could use my daughters pushchair as a zimmer frame after eating a fantastic meal at Acuarius in the marina when making my return to Sa Marina Cala D'or!!! :cheers

She's 7 now - no pushchair, no more :(

Hi
At least being half way up the hill if we got to the Marina we will only have half the walk up to do and returning home from Center Cala D'or it will be down hill :) ..I have heard a few people mention Acuarius so must be good !
I have also heard that where our Villa is there is a Spar supermarket not far ??....do you know the exact location on the map and is it a reasonable size?...i know there is a large Eroski going out of Town but as long the Spa stocks Breakfast items we may use that depending on what it stocks.
Thanks

There was a small supermarket half way down the hill (Avinguda de Cala Llonga) towards the marina last year that stocked a few items. We never use Eroski we always use the spar, but we go half board these last few years and eat out at Acuarius about 4 times in a fortnight. The nearest spar to you is the same one we use. It is on the island on Ronda de los Ports/Carrer Ariel - Opposide Hotel Dor/Sa Marina.

Think there are a couple of local shops on the walk to that to.
