Hi There,i went to tsilivi last september and stayed at the phoenix beach hotel which was nice.Tsilivi is a large resort,lots of bars and restaruants we had lots of rain.The beach was in my opinion was not very good very pebbly and some rubbish on it.I would not go back,but then again ive been spoilt with fig tree bay in cyprus which is superb.The airport on the way home is shocking you have to queue up in separate lines in your chosen flight it can take 2-3 hours from arriving at the airport to going through to the departure gate.Go to laganas on the bus for the day the beach is brilliant,bus stop is opposite popeyes in the middle of the resort.At night you can also travel in a horse and cart to get around the resort,the other problem while we were there were flies thousands of them landing on you all day they were so bad you could not leave your drink,you had to put your hand over it at all times as they would just land on the rim,i know this report sounds bad but i am only being honest,it would be interesting to hear if any other people had the same problems as me .I was there from 15/09/05-29/09/05.

We went to Tsilivi in Sept '04 and we had a great time. The resort is a lot bigger than you think, without being crowded and full of groups. Its a couples and family place really. The beach is good, probably not the best in the world, but you can have much enjoyment their. Hire the pedalows for an hour as the sea is really calm. iallen mentioned Popeyes. This is in the centre of the resort and is a very popular restaurant and I don't know why really. There are numerous other restaurants around it which are equally as nice, but for some reason people pack out Popeyes.
Hiring a car is a must and works out quite cheap. Can't remember the exact name, but the beach with the shipwreck on is an amazing sight, but you can only actually access the beach via boat. If you go by car, you end up on the cliffs overlooking it, but the colour of the water us amazing.

We went to Tsilivi last year and were there at the same time as iallen, never saw hardly any flies, tsilivi is absolutly wonderful and we are going back again, but not till next year trying corfu this year. As for the airport as long as you take something to eat and drink with you its not too bad would not put us of going again.

Why do people always whinge about the airport? I know its queueing and boring etc, but how many airports do you queue in a year. Isn't it just part of the holiday experience?

We were in Zante June 2005 and went to Tsilivi for the day and found it to be much bigger than our first visit in 1997. But none the less it is still a resort I would go back to, although big we thought it was clean and the beach was fantastic.
You will love Zante so don't worry
As for the airport yes it's busy but I thought the way we were organised by Kosmar in the queue it was ok. But follow the advice of others with regards food and drink, the airport is expensive

I am just back from Zante last week, my boyfriend and I stayed in Tsilivi at the strofades, lets just say I wish i was still there!!

The water at the beach is lovely so clear just like glass, the sunbeds were only 6 euros (2 beds all day) which was excellent because last year we had to pay 12 euros in Spain.

Loads of places to eat out we never had a bad meal the whole holiday.

Sorry to seem so negative about the beach in tsilivi but i cannot understand how anyone can say its clean,lushy also says it is not the best beach in the world a bit of a under statement.In the last 9 years ive been abroad 23 times all over the world and have never taken 3 hours to check in,i know it is part and parcel of going away but zante airport is a joke.All those parents with young children please post a note in the forum and tell me if you thought it was ok.

Just returned from tsillivi in zante, and cant really see what all the fuss is about! The beach was just average...been to better, and worse! Had a meal at Popeyes and thought it was crap!!!! Best meal by far was in the Manos Grill..... Hired a car from THEOS CAR RENTAL...not the one in town, the one near PLANOS BAY APTS and can say that Steve, the guy who rents out the cars was fantastic...even giving us a homemade map with all the places of interest on! The best thing about the holiday was the weather....in the 30s everyday without a single cloud in the sky....without the weather, God only knows what we would have done! Cant really say Ill be in a rush to go back...Oh, and the airport...been to some bad ones in my time, but the return journey, with children, was no fun at all! Be warned!

Hi There,at last someone who agrees with me obviously a frequent traveller like my self.We all have different opinions and have to respect that.I have to say your comments on the beach and airport were spot on.All the people who thought the beach is good must have low standards it was the worst beach i have ever seen,glass on it rubbish etc Apparently the last few winters had been really rough and thats why there was so many stones on beach the sea had churned them up.

Despite the notes above about the airport and beach, I'm sure it's going to be a great place to go!

just had 2 great weeks in tsilivi and yes the airport is poor but the beach is ok plenty of good restaurants manos grill only bettered by fat olives (real veg) a bit quiet but you have the choice of brash bars ark friends and deanos to name but 3. unless you want a greek 2 weeks ie laid back with nothing to do you will be fine

for a rocking night out go to Paradise bar - its brilliant, Zante has everything, you will have an amazing time

lets get the worst out the way first

the airport , ok on the way in because the new arrivals is open , but on the way out , it's still the old part of the airport , small and cramped , and can be very hot , but as has already been said take sandwiches

( deli across from the 2 brothers sells great grub )

and a drink for everyone and it should be ok .

tsilivi as a place is ideal for couples and families , nice relaxed atmosphere , great people , fantastic restaurants and value for money into the bargain .

me and the missus going in july for third year in a row , will try one of the other islands next year as the wife is just about to finish her studies , so can go on holidays when we like not during school hols ,

manos grill : book the table during the day or you will wait

fat olives: past the chippy on the right , fantastic seafood

dionisis grill : next to planos apartments ,really cheap and great value

koukos : best greek night in tsilivi , if you get up to dance , your up for at least 20 mins

the zakfari and levante speed boat trip are really good i hear , not tried them yet , keep saying i will but get there and relax mode kicks in

the 2 brothers bar is fantastic , tassos and kostas great guys

Iallen............one comment as your such a "frequent" traveller ALL over the world you obviouly didn't do any research before choosing your destination of Tsivili and more importantly Zakynthos and it's querky airport

Zakynthos airport is a legend in it's own right and has been for years......shame you didn't find that out before embarking on a trip to the island

I can't comment on Tsivili as I've never been (because it doesn't seem my cup of tea having researched the resort) But I'm a frequent visitor to beautiful Zakynthos and I agree the airport's a nightmare at times but the island is more than worth it for most
