Hi my partner and I are due to visit Tunia in three weeks time. I have never visited before and therefore very unsure to what I can and cannot wear.
I understand that they are a very strict muslim culture therfore is wearing a bikini a denifate no no??? as well if wearing skirts etc... do they have to be over the knee length?? and is long sleves mandatory???
Better ask the above so I know how to pack my case!
Many thanks to all that respond
regards
Debbie
This time next week I will be on my way for my 9th trip also returning to Tunisia on the 14th May
With regards dress etc, around your hotel and pool/beach area there isn't really any need to worry I have seen women topless bathing so pack your bikini, however you are requested not to go into the main dinning room dressed in beach wear, that applies to male and females
Out and about it's advisable to cover up a bit more not saying cover up completely be a little more modest as you will get a lot of attention from the locals showing a lot of bare flesh,I usually wear longer shorts or cropped trouser to go into town with a t shirt etc skirts are fine too. If you are visiting any religous site you will need to cover up.
Have a wonderful time in Tunisia
Many thanks for the useful info! I will be flying out Tunisia on the same day! Have a fab holiday and thanks once again.
regards
Debbie
Hi there! My daughter (24) & I went for a week to Tunisia last August & had a lovely relaxing break. Our hotel along with the beach allowed topless sunbathing. We wore shorts into breakfast and dressed smartly for dinner. If you don't want to be stared at dress modestly. Remember Tunisia is a Muslim country and as such the women are covered up. If you go around in skimpy clothes you are going to attract unwanted attention. You don't have to live in trousers and long skirts, just be aware of where you are and dress appropriately. I really wouldn't worry. Have a fab time.
Hi Helen,
Tip - I found that chucking a pashmina in my bag was really useful if you are out on a night and are wearing a strappy top as some places have air con and it can be chilly. Plus if you are out and about during the day you can coverup at religious sites.
