Yes, I read that too. Good article, there are some good deals at the moment too.
I have heard a few people say it is slow this year too.

All the restauranteers in Datca are saying it is slow this year however when I was there last week I thought it was buzzing. I think though it was because it was busy with Turkish visitors all getting their holiday in before Ramazan. They tend not to use the expensive water side restaurants and either eat in their holiday homes or in the lokantas which were all busy.
With regards to that article stating Turkey is one of the more expensive destinations, I do agree with it IF you are a tourist who is going to one of the resorts catering for European tourists. I know those of us who are used to Turkey can all find out of the way places that are less but if you go to Olu Deniz, Marmaris, Kalkan, Gumusluk etc and want to eat in the waterside restaurants and bars catering for tourists it is pricey. The same can be said if you shop in somewhere like Migros instead of in the markets.

Just got back from Iclemer, it was very quiet and to be honest the prices have gone up to the point where some things are not really not good value, although much of that has to with the exchange rate, a;though there was some heavy discounting going on just before we left as the expected hoards of families did not appear.
They have had a couple of very busy seasons and IMO they have become a little complacent and are paying the price, they will have learnt a valuable lesson this season!

We were paying £2.40 for English breakfast in Hisaronu (only ate brekkie out twice though) and we saw it advertised in Olu Deniz for £4.40 at sea front restaurant. Compared to where we've just returned from in Spain I thought it still good value for money

and with the echange rate on the rise it is even better value

Yes the good exchange rate is helping to offet the rise in costs. I'm nipping out on Thursday and am told I'll get around 2.8 at my bank there. I was out a few weeks ago and was getting about 2.55 and last year it was quite a bit less. I have just returned from Switzerland and my goodness that was pricey so Turkey will seem very reasonable in comparison!
