hi kedi - the nationwide flex account is brilliant - last september/october whilst in gumbet the best cash exchange we could get was 2.2 to £1 - withdrawls at the atms with the nationwide card was 2.35 with no charges!! - today m&s rate is 2.28 but on XE which is closer to what you would get through the nationwide its 2.42!! - 70 extra lira on £500 and as you know you can get a VERY nice meal for 2 on 70 lira
ive just checked my turkish bank account as the rate is always very similar to xe and its 2.435 at the moment, the other option to get a better rate is to change over £100 at a turkish bank
do you have pay commision at a turkish bank ?? - if not then it useful as when we go in may we have a couple of oaps with us so they could change their cash on a day trip into bodrum
ive never paid commission in any of the banks i have changed currency in and they are always a lot higher rate than the exchange offices
Compared to the usual destinations - Spain, Greece etc., whatever prices you may pay for food and drink, we still think it beats them hands down. In the smaller resorts in particular, you get such a great personal service, Turkish people put themselves out to make your holiday great, and life is still very simple!
But then I know I'm probably preaching to the converted on this forum!
