Hmm not a good story. I hope this serves to remind all women not to walk home alone at night while on holiday. There seems to be this feeling that it's safe in Turkey with very little crime. Sadly this isn't true. I hope if this man is guilty he gets a suitable sentence. I wonder about that though as there was a recent case in Bodrum where the man was found guilty but allowed free while the appeals process took it's course and that was expected to take over a year! During the lead up to the court case the man's family were trying to find the woman in order to persuade her to drop the case. During the trial the woman said she felt as though it was up to her to prove her innocence and it was all very unpleasant for her.
I no longer walk alone at night in Turkey, I don't get drunk and most of all I do not accept lifts with men at any time of the day.

i hope were he works are watching him carefully, and quests are being extra carefull
while on holiday. and if anyone found guilty for a crime like that should get life

But they don't do they. They don't get it in UK although I think now women are treated with much more sensitivity. In Turkey I'm told there is still this feeling that the woman was partly to blame. Even if found guilty it is likely that the man will remain free during the appeal which can take many months. The families of these men often try anything they can think of to clear their name and remove the shame from the family name.

I read this in Take a Break last week (Are you the Holiday Rapist). He has a british girlfriend and 2 small children. He regularly beat her when she was with him. She returned to Turkey to see him and he is pleading innocence and now she doesn't know what to believe.(Stupid girl). He now wants to marry her and come and live in Britain!!!!!! Crazy or what.

He was arrested last year Roger but I think it has hit the news again, after a UK magazine tracked him down last week & not only found that he was out on bail but reported that he was working in the Portabello complex, while he awaits trial!

Well there we are then if he is guilty it will be ages before he is locked up if at all. First the trial will take ages and then it'll be over a year for the appeal. During this time his family and his lawyer will be looking for all kinds of ways out including any dirt they can find on his victims. If his victims testify they may not be given an easy time.

Sorry about that guys completely forgot that as it is on a daily newspaper the stories change every day so by the time you all got to read it the story had been changed .Just back from turkey today and did not know i had made a wee bit of a mistake .Should have posted the link for the story and not the newspaper.

I tend to take everything reported by Take a break with a pinch of salt, yes this is based on a true case but the article in Take a break was nothing more than scaremongering about rapes that happened well over a year ago.

We all know what Take a Break are like, they love putting down Turkey at every possible opportunity, that's why they are going on and on with this story. I know it was a terrible thing that happened but the way they tell things they just want to put people off from going to Turkey for some reason.
