The beach adjacent to the hotel isn't that good for sunbathing as the fisherman occupy it for a lot of the time, although a short walk over the hill takes you to a bigger beach and it is worth getting a taxi to the beach at the travencore heritage.
Also take a walk around the backwaters at the back of the hotel and up to the Taj Green hotel which is lovely.
The hotel rooms all have their own safes so no need to worry there. We took out travellers cheques and sterling, both are easy to change either in the hotel or in the shops outside where you tend to get a better rate of exchange. A lot of the shops will also take sterling as payment as well as credit cards.
There are two sides to the hotel, one old, one new. When we first arrived we were given a room on the old side while our actual room was being cleaned. This was OK but in need of a refresh, the new room was very comfortable. All have AC which was very welcome!
There are plenty of restaurants around near the hotel, I would recommend 3rd Rock, say hello to JJ, and Mollys both only a short stroll. Fusion at Lighthouse beach is also good, get a tuc tuc there for about 75rs each way.
I'm sure you will have a wonderful holiday, I would certainly go back tomorrow if I could!
Let me know if you have any other questions and I will try and help.

Thanks for that. Did you go on any trips whilst you were there. I'd like to to go to Cochin, but don't know how feasible that is.
Would you be able to do our first review on the Uday Samudra. If you could that would be great!
Jacquie, JJ from Third Rock sends his best wishes. He hasn't seen his son since the day he was born, but he remembered the penguin you sent him. I'm going to e-mail him with this website, so he may post a reply.

Glad you had a great time! Do you think you will return?
We'd love to go back one day, but there are so many other places to see. We are thinking about Sri Lanka next. Anybody got any suggestions?
why not start up a new thread? Your plea may get lost under the present title. I know what you mean about " so many other places"!
