Hope I'm im the right place for advice on uk holidays
I booked a family holiday (3 nights fri-mon) for June this year with Park holidays in oct last year, paid the deposits on 11 caravan as there are 45 of us going.
I visited some holiday parks before I booked and chose Park hollidays Sheerness holiday park mainly because its flat (my Mum is disabled), linen, gas, electric is included, they have entertainment for the kids and they have a meal deal where you can pay and have all your meals so no cooking. They also agreed to cordon off part of the clubhouse so we could all sit together in the evenings and my Mum would be in a caravan with a movable bed which they would move over to one side so she could have easier access. Staff were lovely and freindly so thought it would be ideal.
I paid £660 deposit and £670 is left to pay by middle of April.
Today I got a letter from Park Holidays saying they have transfered ownership of the holiday park to Greenspace Holdings limited and if I have any quries regarding my booking to phone a certain man on a mobile number and the balance of the holiday should be paid direct to Sheerness holiday park.
I am not happy about this at all, firstly because I paid for the 'park holidays' experience and do not know what it will be like now and secondly they expect me to hand over the rest of my payment to a mobile phone number, looks like the company is registred in Guernsey and the contact name has been a director of 6 companies that are now dissolved.
Can Park holidays just do this, surely I have a contract with them for the holiday and would have prefered if they had offered us a different location, I have checked and there is enough accomodation in most of their other resorts.
Holidays at this location was on their website on Monday as I looked to see if we could book another caravan (we could have) but it has totally dissapeard from there now. My booking reference is no longer valid on their site, so they have basically said you're not booked with us anymore with no notice or offer to cancell offered just this letter I received today.
My Mum is going to be devestated, she loved this site, its her 80th, my hubbys 70th and my sisters 60th birthdays all in June hence the family holiday.
I need to try and sort something out before I tell her but do not know what to do, ideally I want my deposits back and will book at another site but I take it they have sold my deposits on along with the site and I have no way of getting them back.
CAn anyone advise the best thing to do
Thanks
Crissy
unfortunatly its not unusual to sell holiday property complete with the booking list,
have you actualy contacted the new owners/administrators
wiz
I am going to try and deal with Park holidays, have just read the terms and conditions of the booking and it says:
6. Cancellation or changes by us
In exceptional circumstances, we may have
to cancel or change some aspects of your
booking. If we do so, we will tell you as
soon as possible prior to your holiday date
and you may choose to either:
a) Accept the changes offered by us
b) Receive a full refund
c) Accept an alternative holiday with us
at the same price.
We do not pay compensation in
circumstances where we have to cancel
your booking including those arising from
Force Majeure. Force Majeure means
circumstances beyond our control including
(but not limited to) industrial disputes,
natural disasters, fire, technical problems,
bad weather and acts of government.
I canot see how Force Majeure includes selling the site onto someone else, I am going to tell them I do not accept the changes offered by them and want an alternative holiday with them 'Park holidays' at the same price
you could always put the mobile number in your search engine [yahh/google etc] and see if it throws anything up
