Absolutely great. Fantastic people, great food, great weather.
I just wanted to post a warning for anyone wanting to use their mobile in Turkey. As it is not part of the EU, the roaming costs are very high on all UK networks - so I bought a local Vodafone Sim, and put it into my unlocked UK phone. No problems, except after a week it became unusable - I took the sim back, and the sim would work in a local turkish phone, but not in my phone.
Apparently there were problems with stolen phones going to Turkey, so all the networks now automatically block foreign phones from using local sims after 7 days !!!!
Anyway, I managed to get a local basic Nokia 1101 (a bit battered), and it worked fine for calls and texting at local rates, rather than the exorbinant roaming charges.
I'm not sure on the forum rules, if I am allowed to advertise the phone and sim for sale - if not, I will edit the post.
Cheers
