you can pay online for you visa with your credit card
and for 2 visa's it costs £78. We just sent them in our own Envelopes....witch cost £5 each at the P/O remember to take note of the return envelope number so you can track it coming back with the royal mail on line .......colleen

Most importantly - do not forget to make a note of your passport number, you will not be able to online track without it.

Hi also remember if you are sending them of in your own PO bags to take the number of both bags so you can track when they send your visas back,also when you fill your forms in on line to put NA for sponsor and also for restricted areas as these questions dont appear when you print of the finished form,confused? so was I :duh, only use black pen to sign and relax it will be alright nobody could have made more mistakes than me and we got ours ok ,I even put my motherinlaw as my sponsor and was so stressed I forgot where i lived slan(cheers)

Don't forget to sign your forms! The signature must be exactly the same as you have signed it on your passport.
Make sure your passport is valid for 6 months after the date of your departure from Goa.
There must be room in your passport for the visa which takes up a full page.
Send it to the visa office which is the one designated for the area you live. (It isn't always the one that is closest)

If you're sending a Postal Order off as means of payment, make sure you fill it out correct. IE- If you're applying via the Birmingham office, put '-Birmingham' at the end of the 'payable to' line.

If you are making your payment online enclose a copy of your receipt and dont forget your photo's, also make sure you enter your parents details even if they are deceased,

Have to say silentman... we never put in the check list or the receipt for payment on line in with our visa's.......maybe we were just lucky luck of the Irish colleen

Check jurisdiction to make sure you are sending application to right centre.

Take your time and read everything thoroughly.

Print off a second copy of the forms and keep reading through them to convince yourself that you HAVE done it correctly!

It's NOT actually as bad as I was fearing, so above all, try not to spend the 10 days after applying worrying. (I failed at that one though!)

Irishcoleen You could be right that receipt and checklist are not necessary, however step 4 in
"how to apply for an india visa from home" on the vfs web site (sorry can't post link) indicates you should enclose online receipt, and its no big deal to do so, also judsmiles had his application returned due to none payment even though he had payed online and it had shown that he had on his bank statement.

theres a guy who has some involvment with vfs in london on another forum who gives lots of advice, he maintains that applications made online are deleted after 15 days if they dont receive them in person or by post, they are still processed but in a different way so the online receipt could be important, again this happened to judsmiles and could explain why his application was returned.

Make a photocopy of your passport in case they get lost and take it on holiday too but keep it separate from the original.
If you loose or have your passport stolen it will make life a lot easier.

You can put NA for father which is what I did and got mine back yesterday!!

left it really late, (fly week monday) so had to go down to birmingham, was about 50th in queue and expected to be ages.

Got to be honest, really well organised, one queue for indians, one for peeps with appointments and one for plebs like me.

In and out in 30 mins, just go back friday (three days) to pick it up.

Highly reccommended!

You can still apply for visas by using the old application forms and fill them in manualy. These can then be posted to vfs. Our friends have done this. They rang vfs to enquire first, and was told that they could. I think i will also apply for my visas this way also.

Thats exactly what we did denham.
The VF services website makes no mention the you HAVE to do the 'on-line' application if you are to request a Visa by post. So we double-checked and you are correct in as much as you can print off the Visa application form (the new one, which is only slightly different to the old one) and hand-fill in the relevant details. Quick and easy.
