Hi ginkster.

I believe there is a direct bus that runs twice a day from Marmaris to Akyaka. I didn't use it myself but I saw it listed whilst staying in Akyaka this year and one day we were asked for directions by a couple that had got the bus to Akyaka from Marmaris. They obviously hadn't checked the times before starting out as they were expecting an hourly return service!

Cheers.

hi

there are 2 buses a day and its 4 lira each way and it takes around 30 mins and is approx 20 miles, i think it stops not far from the tansas supermarket, and its direct but some of the dolmuses from marmaris to akyaka stop at the main road and you need to walk about 20 mins down hill into akyaka. buses to marmaris from akyaka are around 10 am and 6pm, hope this helps, i thought you were staying in akyaka so im a bit confused now :que

Hi ellie-meg
I knew you would be able to help us!!
Yes it was ment to be 1 week in Akyaka, but it is now 1week Marmaris (this was our Package trip ).
We are planning to visit Akyaka for a few days (give it the run over so we can decide if it is going to be OK for next year when we are planning to take the kids with us), Hope it is ,as I have not stopped talking about the place to my wife :tup :duh
I have been showing her the pics of Akyaka and she is going to slapp me one if WE dont visit this place when we are in Turkey 19thOCT.
I think she will just leave me in Akyaka, As I have done nothing but DROOL over the place since you told me about your little place in heaven.
The Credit Crunch has made us choose the cheap Marmaris option.!!! THIS TIME.

3week 6days to go :sun2 :cheers

hi

im sure you will love it, my 8 yr old loves it there. we went with friends a few weeks ago and they loved it and they had 3 kids 9,10 ,13 with them and all the kids didnt want to go home and want to come back next year. as long as your kids love the pools and sea they will be happy in akyaka, her kids did a canoe trip along the riverside and throughly enjoyed that. its so scenic theres nothing to dislike , the only people that wouldnt like it are the sort of holiday makers that opt for fair grounds, loud music, karoke bars etc. the view from the beach is wonderful

Cheers ellie-meg
We are not the fairground type so we should be fine :think
We have 3 kids age 3,6,10 and my oldest son has just done sailing and canoe trips with his scout group. The river will suit him fine.
We have flights booked for next year June30th--July21st 3 wks , and have the 2nd and 3rd weeks booked for Hisaronu ( good deal on a private apartment) So we just need to find a good BEACH for the first week .
Iam thinking AKYAKA will be just what we are looking for.
The SAFE beach with the friendly locals ,the river the wildlife , and most important the EFES :rofl , are just what we want!!!
This year it is just mum and dad (no kids) on a budget, so a 2day stoppover in Akyaka is all we can do. :cry
So the plan for this year is MARMARIS for the first 2 nights, Pack our bags for 2 nights in AKYAKA ( we will just get a room with a view when we arrive) and then back to MARMARIS for the last 3 nights.
Once again it is the MONEY that is making the choice for us this year.
It will break my heart to leave the kids with family ,but my wife cant wait to see the back of them :think LOL
Iam sure AKYAKA will live up to its reputation, and capture our hearts.

ONLY 3WKS 6DAYS to go :cheers

im confident you will love akyaka, we met a couple on a beach in icmeler got chatting the usual where are you staying etc, we told them akyaka and they came over the following week and fell in love with the place, they were about mid 20's, so its suitable for all ages. the beach in akyaka is particularly good, as its usually calm and shallow for a fair way out ,no deep drops and lovely and sandy. we are friends with the manager of the magician hotel and bar on the beach, in great location. you must eat in the deniz restaurant , if you look across the beach to the side you will see a white gated area this is it, food is fab and reasonable, steaks the best ive had were 16 lira. we found akyaka cheaper to eat out than icmeler, another good restaurant is the kazan. there are boat trips to cleopatras island ,we havent been but sound lovely. my friends kids liked jumping off the rocks into the sea, we checked it out and always went with them and it was safe.

my oldest 2 have left home now but we often leave ellie with her grand parents and get away, its my hubbys 40th in dec and we are thinking about going to madeira for 5 nights ,kid free :tup

Hi ellie_meg.
Yes We managed to visit Akyaka for the day. We got the bus for Mugla and had to get off at the top of the road and walk down.
Well what can I say>>> STUNNING totaly STUNNING. When we first seen the beach my OH was speachless ,apart for the word WOW
she must have said WOW 10 times in the same sentence LOL. I must admit We did wish we had the kids with us as the beach was Ideal for them.
After a few hours lazing on the beach we went for a stroll up the river and stopped for lunch and a few efes. We then went to the Okaliptus aparts for a wee nose about ( we should have been staying here) and they looked nice enough, very nice grounds.
We just got a taxi back to marmaris as we were a little unsure about the bus. :que
We did spend most of the week in Icmeler as we did not think much of Marmaris itself.
For next year the OH has choosen to go Icmeler for our first week as she thought Akyaka although stunning might be a little low key for the kids, although we will deffo visit again just for the beach. My only regrett was forgetting the BLOODY camera as we were so caught up in making sure we got the correct bus. :whoops
Just been reading about your Istanbul trip and glad you had a good time pitty about the weather though.
Counting down the days for next year and trying to save the pennies. Hope you have a good xmas and thanks for all your advice,
Gink and family :cheers

hi

im glad you enjoyed your day in Akyaka its so lovely, all my kids love it there, the sea is great for my youngest as shallow ,calm, warm and sandy lol. we prefer low key and theres still plenty to do, theres a big outdoor cinema we havent even been to yet, my friends went with their 3 boys on a day canoeing up the river and said that was brilliant. we havent even done a boat trip lol, :think , just chill out and chat to all our friends we have made lol. the okaliptus apts are lovely , good luck with what ever you decide next year.

we are off to madeira in 2 weeks time that will be somewhere different to try ,kid free for 5 nights for hubbys 40th , ive also booked disneyland paris for march got a really good price and 3 nights for price of 2 and kids under 12 free. but im waiting to see if the flights to dalaman come down as will be going to Akyaka for the summer for 2-3 weeks , ive never seen the flights to turkey in all the years ive been going to high grrr

Istanbul was wonderful despite having a few days of pouring rain we saw most things we wanted to see , we will definitely revist it 1 day
