Hi, were travelling to Playa de Pocollis in January and have considered doing the whole volcano thing. Can anyone advise a) how far Timanfaya is from PDP? - should we get a taxi or take a tour (my children are travel sick and not too good on coaches...is it a long journey)?
b) I understand the admission includes a coach tour of the site - again, is this a long trip as I have a 1 year old and a four year old who are interested for a while but do get bored.
We have done the Ranch thing the last two years - is there anywhere else that would be appropriate for their age groups?
Many thanks
Timanfaya is approx 30 minutes journey , have you considered hiring a car for the day then you can take as long as needed to get there if the kids are not good travellers.
The admission does include a quided coach trip around the volcanoes and I think from memory this last about an hour.
The camel rides are also situated on the road leading to the volcanoes.
El Golfo is quite interesting for the adults and close to Timanfaya there are a few cafes and restaurants and it is a good lunch destination sat by the sea.
hope this helps
Andy
Thank You Andy. Very Helpful! x
The landscape is stunning and the audio commentary on the bus gives you some understanding of how it all happened. Most of the meat in the restaurant is cooked by natural heat eminating form the magma below.
I'm sure we've all been conned into going on hopeless coach trips when on holiday only to find ourselves at one of the drivers mates business's but this one is well worth it.
Thanks!!
I have some photo's here of Timanfaya and other areas we have visited. It is definitely worth hiring a car, because there is so much to see on Lanzarotte.
Theyre fabulous! Thank you for sharing them. jo
