Off the Hilton Fayrouz for the second time with the other half on 24 th June 2006 for one week.
He has just reminded me that the world cup will be on whilst we are there. Are ideas if/where the games will be showing?
I have been to sharm before but never really took any notice if anywhere was showing sports.
Cheers
Unfortunately I think we are also a bit in the dark as we are not sure which channels will have the rights to show the matches. In previous years both Egypt 1 and 2 covered quite a lot of the matches but now it seems that the viewing rights are beciming downright extortinate in price. I would imagine that Egypt 1 and 2 plus ART sports will be showing quite a bit - I think the best places would probably be the Camel bar and teh Tavern both in Naama.
1) The only English pub i know of was the Travern bar in Naama Bay, but on my last visit parts of Naama Bay was blown up. We wasn't allowed to enter afterwards and therefore i'm not sure if it is still standing.
2) If it has been blown up does anyone else know of anywhere else i could try to watch England matches.
This as you could imagine has left me greatly worried, i would be thankful of replies.
Camel bar had loads of matches on whilst we were there and the bus stop (pasha night club) also had loads of football on and rugby league etc. So doubt if you will have any problems.
Will this not be the case?? If not, I will definitely have to make alternative arrangements!!!!
Was there last week and the only BBC channel we had was BBC World, and the reception was dire. The reception on the other channels was fine, but apart from Eurosport there didn't seem to be any other sports channels.
Just watched Spurs beat Bolton last night. Bit lucky but who cares as long as they finish above the Gunners.
there a english bar called the traverllers in nanna bay show all football its down a back street up from hard rock cafe behind a supermarket
Will have to do some delving when I get there now. Can't even e-mail the hotel because no one seems to know the e-mail address. It's the Oriental in Sharm if anyone can help!!!
Mind you with Rooney not playing is it gonna be worth watching?
Listening to Guernsey beating Jersey 1 - 0 right now, just 30 mins gone.
Amazing what technology can do !
I will warn you the Egyptians love soccer shirts, i gave them my old LFC shirt, and i promised a guy in the Mall that when i came back this year i would bring him a Manu one. He gave me an Egyptian shirt that was huge
Anyway... in little over 1 hours time I ll sit down for my dinner and watch Sunderland spank the Gunners !
ooooohhhh....... 3 - 2 now.... 9 mins left !
I have just had a reply back from Hilton Fayrouz saying the some World Cup games will be available on the TV's in the room. However all games will we shown on a large flat screen in the Pirates Bar.
Is the Camels bar the one withe floaty balloon things on top? I remember watching the final with Liverpool last year, but i cannot remember the name of the bar. There are seats outside and an inside part. On the same side as the mall, half way up. Thanks.
going on June 10th to the hilton sharks bay, been before really nice place. But my husband is worrying there will be no screens in the hotel so he can watch the match.. i cant remember if there are any screens about other than the one in the chill out bar.. could anyone put his mind at rest.. otherwise any ideas where he could go and watch the footy x
personally, i would find a new husband, it beggars belief that people bother going on holiday and are only bothered about football, I mean, GET A LIFE!!! I told my husband to stay at home and i would go with a friend if he thinks he is going on hol to watch footie, an overrated game, overpaid players and i cannot understand the fun in watching a ball being kicked around, small minded as it may seem and i know i am gonna get shredded for my outburst but that is my personal opinion, which i am quite entitled to. Maybe you would be better off swapping him for some camels......
http://www.sinaitimes.com. It's published online every wednesday. Venues will be listed in there.
