Unfortunately I think we are also a bit in the dark as we are not sure which channels will have the rights to show the matches. In previous years both Egypt 1 and 2 covered quite a lot of the matches but now it seems that the viewing rights are beciming downright extortinate in price. I would imagine that Egypt 1 and 2 plus ART sports will be showing quite a bit - I think the best places would probably be the Camel bar and teh Tavern both in Naama.

Hello, The partner and I are going to Sharm at the beginning of June. This however has sprung up a few questions that i need help answering.

1) The only English pub i know of was the Travern bar in Naama Bay, but on my last visit parts of Naama Bay was blown up. We wasn't allowed to enter afterwards and therefore i'm not sure if it is still standing.

2) If it has been blown up does anyone else know of anywhere else i could try to watch England matches.

This as you could imagine has left me greatly worried, i would be thankful of replies.

Camel bar had loads of matches on whilst we were there and the bus stop (pasha night club) also had loads of football on and rugby league etc. So doubt if you will have any problems.

Gonna be in Sharm El Sheikh for the first England game. Have always assumed that the TV in our room will have BBC so I'd be able to watch it on there. Am having second thoughts about this after reading this thread.

Will this not be the case?? If not, I will definitely have to make alternative arrangements!!!!

Was there last week and the only BBC channel we had was BBC World, and the reception was dire. The reception on the other channels was fine, but apart from Eurosport there didn't seem to be any other sports channels.

Some hotels do have British soccer....

Just watched Spurs beat Bolton last night. Bit lucky but who cares as long as they finish above the Gunners.

I thought it was going to be a foregone conclusion that it would be on in the hotel somewhere - not so confident now!!!

Will have to do some delving when I get there now. Can't even e-mail the hotel because no one seems to know the e-mail address. It's the Oriental in Sharm if anyone can help!!!

Mind you with Rooney not playing is it gonna be worth watching?

It will be sweet watching the Swede sweat as England get knocked out and Switzerland reach the final ! But I guess the Swede does nt care... he is too busy counting his money and chasing the girls !

Listening to Guernsey beating Jersey 1 - 0 right now, just 30 mins gone.

Amazing what technology can do !

Last year all the tennis was on the TVs as in the afternoon we watched it. I also watched my Liverpool thrash a certain team in the final, and all the Egyptians were going mad. We go to Sharm on the 5th June and the first match is on the first saturday. If they have it on, get there early or else you will be standing up. Mind you its a great sight if they win, everyone runs up and down sharms street.

I will warn you the Egyptians love soccer shirts, i gave them my old LFC shirt, and i promised a guy in the Mall that when i came back this year i would bring him a Manu one. He gave me an Egyptian shirt that was huge

Is the Camels bar the one withe floaty balloon things on top? I remember watching the final with Liverpool last year, but i cannot remember the name of the bar. There are seats outside and an inside part. On the same side as the mall, half way up. Thanks.

personally, i would find a new husband, it beggars belief that people bother going on holiday and are only bothered about football, I mean, GET A LIFE!!! I told my husband to stay at home and i would go with a friend if he thinks he is going on hol to watch footie, an overrated game, overpaid players and i cannot understand the fun in watching a ball being kicked around, small minded as it may seem and i know i am gonna get shredded for my outburst but that is my personal opinion, which i am quite entitled to. Maybe you would be better off swapping him for some camels......

There are lots of places with big screen tv, including the Camel bar in Naama! Have a look at http://www.sinaitimes.com. It's published online every wednesday. Venues will be listed in there.

I was in Sharm when Egypt won the Africa cup, it was fab, such a great atmosphere Enjoy!.
