Hi all - new here so be gentle
Read lots of reviews here and elsewhere and have shortlisted down to these two hotels. Planning just for a week prob end April / Start May. But really struggling to make a final decision. We are a couple late 40s - would love to hear your experiences / thoughts about these two hotels.
We like somewhere to go out at night for a drink / meal. Its good if there is a bit of a life and a number of choices but we really dont do the "too loud / too British " type of place if you get my drift . Our main reason for coming to Sharm is the sea - we both love to snorkel so any thoughts on which hotel is the best for this ?
Thanks
I can't answer specifics about these two hotels. But last year I stayed in the hotel next door to the Waterfalls. It's at Ras um el sid. You have Fantasia within walking distance and Old Sharm and the new El Mercato shopping centre close to you. You need a cab to NB but it only 10 mins each way.
The snorkelling is good here, the hotels tend to have manmade sand terraces for sunbathing and jetties into the sea to protect the coral, no real beach as such.
The Fayrouz is actually in Namma Bay, so you have all that has to offer within walking distance.

Hi Doe Thx for your reply, did you prefer the area Ras um el sid to Nama Bay ?
I liked it at Ras um Sid, but apart from Fantazia, which we walked to but didn't actually go in you need to get a cab to go to other places, ie Old Sharm is about 5 mins in a cab and Namma Bay 10 mins in a cab.
I liked being outside of Namma Bay and just popping in every other night and then we ate in the hotel on the alternate nights. Some people might find this boring though. We go for a quick week of winter sun if it was for my main two week holiday I might feel differently.
If you think you are going to want to go out to eat and drink in different places every night you might be happier in a hotel in NB.
I quite like Namma Bay, as I like a bit of a buzz and a choice of restaurants/bars now and again.
Many people dislike it, either because they dont like all the hassle from the locals trying to get you in their bars or buy stuff from them, or just because they think it's a bit chavvy, with neon palm trees etc.
Dont know if that helps much. Its personal preference really.

Thanks again Doe - your post did help I've finally quit dithering and booked for the Fayrouz today. We've only got a week this time , but hopefully, will enjoy it so much that we will want to go back to Egypt again.
I'm not an expert only having visited twice, but I have done a lot of reading about Sharm Hotels etc and from what I have read my understanding is that the Hilton Fayrouz is one of the best hotels in Sharm, both in quality and its proximety to Namma Bay.
enjoy your holidays
