Can someone help me please. I have been checking the weather for the Maldives for May, June and July,
A couple of weather sites say the rainfall is high in May and drops in June/July. Another website says it is low in May and rises in June.....I'm confused
I am trying to make my mind up about when to go, so could do with some advise please. I am aware that it is the rainy season in general.
TIA

the offical rainy season starts in June and you may find that you get the odd overcast day with a few heavy downpours. A friend of mine went last June and hald of the week she was there was cloudy.
may is the changeover month between the wet and the dry seasons and therefore the weather can be unpredictable. We were there the last two weeks in May and had rain on two occasions during the day - which lasted for a couple of hours - all the other showers werwe at night. Temps are hotter and more humid in these months (it was between 35 and 42 degrees in May.
I would definitely go again in May but would probably choose the first two weeks rather than the last two weeks.
Am I right in thinking you wouldn't recommend early July then - as the weather charts show a drop in rain then ? Or is it too humid as you mention the high humidity.

Not been in May, but as Cynical says this is the start of the "Official" rainy season. However, we were there a couple of years ago for the last two weeks of June and we only had full rain on two days (where you couldn't lay on the beach as it rained all day), and a couple of days where we had the 20 minute torrential shower, and then dry in about 20 minutes once the sun was out.
Speaking to the local Maldivians a lot of them have said that the climate has changed considerably over the past 5 years, and they're never too certain of what it's goint to be like. We lost two days to storms in April this year !!
Agree that it is very humid, and there are more mossies about due to this, but most of the islands "Fog" to try and keep them at bay.
Could I suggest that you find an island and then mail them as they should be able to give you a better idea. We have been there and been told that they've had massive storms on the North Atolls, yet in the South we weren't even aware of the bad weather.
We have been looking at Meedhupparu island, which is in Raa Atol, so it's in the north
Will send them an email.

We have also been in October where it seems to be less humid and less rain - so much so that we have booked again for October this year.
We were thinking of end June now I have changed my mind again.
I have this feeling Im not meant to go here. I have never dithered so much about a holiday before.

just stick with HT and you'll get your holiday planned. Has anyone told you how good HT is?
