Hi all,
we are planning to get married in austria and am just wondering if anyone knows whether there will be guaranteed snow in march. im guessing so as they still do skiing hols then. but just to confirm. thanks for your help!
It really depends on where you are going - yes, you can still go skiing in March in Austria but you need to go to the higher altitude resorts to find it and many popular resorts will be snow-free in the village/town itself with snow only to be found up on the mountains. It will also make a difference depending on whether you are going in early March or nearer the beginning of April.
Cities like Innsbruck and Salzburg will be cool in March but could be tricky if snow is a key priority for the wedding pics though you will find snow in the associated mountain resorts. I've walked round Salzburg in late March/early April in blazing sunshine and needed no more than a jumper to keep the chill away! Yet also gone walking on glaciers in August and needed the ice axe and crampons! The altitude is all important and is what will determine whether you'll find snow at a particular time of year.
