Didn't know quite where to put this so feel free to move!!

I tend to look at several holiday review sites to get a balanced view. However, I was quite disgusted at another site which I will not name (pm me if you want to know which one) to find some absolutely disgusting language used to describe the hotel in question. This particular site presumably does not have moderators as I am certain that language like that would not be tolerated on HT. Very often the reports are in text style language or all in lower case which make for difficult reading.

Well done to HT Moderators who keep this site as polite as possible.

General discussion was fine at one stage we had a great bunch of people who swopped ideas and day to day chit chat. Then it became General bickering and detracted from the purpose of the site which is holiday information. :cry:

All in all i think the mods do a fantastic, and probably under-appreciated job

I did think that the 'British or not' thread was removed from here a tad quickly mind you .. but i suppose we are here to talk about holidays and not nationalities!! :lol:

I too would like to thank the moderators on doing a good job, as other forum sites which I wont mention allow bad language and often "off the topic" nonsense postings which make certain forums very boring, clique & unhelpful, (Wouldnt visit them again!!) I echo all of the above sentiments..the moderators do an excellent job all year round and i would like to thank them for giving up their time to do this and keep tabs on the site.

All the other forums I am member of have a general chat forum. Its the only thing lacking on this forum. Its a real shame there isn't one. People like to talk about other things than just holidays. I have often found myself with a topic with nowhere to put it.

The other effect of having a general chat is because more people come on line for general they will actually do more posts on the holiday forums.

Maybe a poll of member to general chat or not.

Think it's unlikely general chat will come back due to the fact that it was the members that were responsible for it being shut down. A chat room has been set up for 'off topic', plus holiday chat threads at the top of many forums.

I dont think it's appropriate for a poll to be taken, after all its the admin and mods who have to do all the work and sort out the problem posts, dross etc.

I too would love to have a chat forum but I remember how nasty it all became last time, it was all very unpleasant

In an ideal world we'd have another chat forum and everything would be fine. The reality is (in my opinion, mod hat off, blah blah blah!) it would probably work well for a while then all fall apart again.

One of the current mods received so much flak prior to the last chat forum being removed, I'm amazed he didn't walk away never to return.

I've been an HT member for a few years now and log in most days but few of us could spare the time that the Administrators & Moderators must spend on this forum to keep it the best around so many thanks to everyone involved.
