Finally booked my flights so mucho planning and some more saving to do. Booked flights with Southall Travel tonight at a fantastic price.
Leave from Manchester on November 11th and return on 15th April. Twenty two and a half weeks!
No concrete plans yet but I'm hoping it to be something like..
4 weeks or so in Goa to 'acclimatise'
Up to Delhi, Agra, region for a little while and down to Varanasi.
Up into Nepal for a few days in Kathmandu.
Try and be in Bhopal on Dec 3rd for their sad 25th anniversary of the disaster.
Back in Goa after New Year to meet up with son and daughter Jan 11th.
End of Jan off down to Kerala round to Chennai or the opposite way round
Maybe if funds allow, over to the Andaman & Nicobar Islands or the Lakshadweep Islands (prob skint by then)
Back up to Goa to end it with a couple of weeks relaxing.
I'm sure this is gonna change almost daily the more I read on all the India travel forums
I think I'm bonkers but if I don't do it now.... I may never
Welcome to the Goa forum!
All the Best lassi x
At least you have plenty of time before you leave to make lots of plans.
Hopefully will see you at one of the carvery meets to hear how it is all going.
Lastly, a big to the forum
I think I'm envious !
I'm 51 Dave... can't say I feel it most of the time... bit of a warm (and dry) weather motorcyclist as well so I think I'll be making the most of the sunshine over there.. perhaps just in Goa though
chilly

chilly ;)
Thanks all for your warm welcome.
Hello Chilly, no, all new places for me this time, a real adventure. I'm trying to see if I am better off going to certain locations during certain months for the climate etc... it seems like the evening woolies may be out in the north by the look of it
I'm twice as envious now ! At 57 I could be doing what you plan to do but my O/H likes being at home too much. Life is a compromise, I'm trying to twist her arm into another holiday to follow our month in November with a 3 week return in March ! Dave
I hope you'll keep us informed of your progress and maybe we'll see you at one of Chilly's masterclasses at the Carvery. Hope so!
.. me too!!I hope you'll keep us informed of your progress and maybe we'll see you at one of Chilly's masterclasses at the Carvery. Hope so!
Bapu its very exciting and dont know if it would be of interest but i did a blog the last 2 years of our (similar) travels overland although unfortunately i didnt blog the previous few years which included Varanasi and many other places, but if it might be useful this is the address.. http://www.travelpod.com/members/gillip
I think you will just love all those places....hope to see you in Goa? if you want you can add your name for some of the meets at the carvery there is a thread on here (carvery meets) they are great fun and a terrific way to put faces to names from this forum and some great people
Chilly
Sounds like a great trip
roma wrote:Hi Bapu - I can see the envious green colour reflecting off my pc screen! Sounds like a great trip and although at 51 you're "nobbut a lad" as we say up here, life is there to be lived to the full. Carpe Diem and all that!
I hope you'll keep us informed of your progress and maybe we'll see you at one of Chilly's masterclasses at the Carvery. Hope so!
Cheers roma, how could I not come to the Carvery with all this hospitality goin' on? and I'm from 'up here' as well

WOW... I'm gonna have to set asside a day or two to read those great blogs Chilly... soooo much info I can't wait to start reading it... unless there is a book and film coming out of your adventures Now, where's my list of 1001 questions to ask
Mark
(was nicknamed Bapu in 2000 by the Indian lads... bald and round glasses was enough for them I think, wish I was thin and wise as to go with it as well )
well as Chilly will know i'm really really envious, I am married to a younger man (lovely Steve ) but this is something I would do tomorrow, Steve on the other hand is a bit more staid, one day i will persuade him though
and I'm from 'up here' as well
...so you are Bapu.....from the land of the Black Pudding, where I come from too!

Love Jayne x
Ah but when Steve is ready you'll have a great time together Jayne, it's gonna be weird as this will be my first trip on my own.... suppose it has both pluses and minuses as you can imagine... weird all the same.

I only have to live here roma... heart and soul still in Mancunia
Still wondering how to get round my manager for even 3 months off next year so I'm definitely in the envious category!
My beautiful other half has agreed to us returning to India in March for 3 1/2 weeks to Kerala.
I have just booked the tickets
