Yes Dazbo, cabin pressure but I think all of us on board thought we were just gonna drop out of the sky! If someone had come on and said theres nothing to worry about folks but we have to land as a precaution then it would have been fine but it's the fact that he said the "mayday, mayday" and then left us to presume the worst!
Anyway I can see from flight radar that this plane is still flying and looks likely to fly us back to Birmingham next tuesday so i don't know how many people will want to get back on it not quite understanding what happened in the first place!
My other dislike is that scheduled flights no longer give the service that I used to get (waaaay back ), and still expect!!! If I use BA/KLM/Qantus for long flights, I expect to be treated rather better than if I used the charter flight option, but that doesn't seem to be the case now.
is put my tray down fully, it sits at a 45degree angle which is why I buy extra legroom seats, tray then sits horizontal.
Funny enough that stuff about our Monarch plane emergency landing has just been the main headline on Midlands today!
I know it must have been a bad experience for those passengers involved and unaware of what was happeneing, but it was just a cabin pressurisation problem, it was nothing too major and hardly headline news. They are a weekly occurance. As mentioned when you first asked about it, it sounds like communication could have been better to reassure passengers, but there was no danger once the emergency descent had been initiated. It was likely a stuck valve or somethnig simple that caused it, they made it sound like the aircraft or airline should be grounded because of it. All major airlines have had cabin presurisation issues at some time, these things happen.
Damn right it was a communication thing, we all thought we were going to die, we all had no clue whatsoever it was a cabin pressure thing! We had no clue it was a weekly occurance! Did it really need the mayday call out? I think the headline news is because of the lack of telling us what was going on leaving us all to think the worse. Oh and also Monarch for switching planes. It seems this route is often delayed, yesterday it was delayed by over 9 hours coming back into Birminham and that too looks like it was a switched plane! If they can't supply us properly then they should give up trying!

Yes, it did but it shouldn't have been aired on the passenger PA system, only to ATC. The aircraft was in 'grave and imminent danger', the definition of a mayday call. Loss of cabin pressure can quickly lead to hypoxia, hence why a rapid emergency descent to a lower altutude (normally 10,000ft) is required to ensure sufficient oxygen in the cabin. Subcharters are a part of aviation and are required from time to time, especially in peak season.

Should we have had the oxygen masks drop as nothing dropped?
Oxygen masks only drop out when the cabin altitude reaches about 14,000ft. Normal cabin altitude in the cruise about 6,000ft to 8,000ft. Flight deck warning sounds at about 9,500ft. If it is a slow loss of pressurisation then the aircraft can descend, and be below 14,000ft before the cabin reaches that altitude so the masks will not drop..
I hate it when someone behind starts licking the back of my seat.
Kicking or licking?
That made me chuckle the thought of some strange person licking the back of my seat
That's hilarious
nothing would suprise me though. Might taste better than the inflight food on offer.
at Doe.
kicking mean to say
I can now tell you what I think is even worse than one baby screaming through the whole flight- two Perhaps the short time they stopped screaming they were licking the seats in front
That made me giggle than, sorry, lol
Most hated during long flights - well, there's 3 of them...

Darren
I do that, sorry.
