Probably the liveliest area is the Sukhumvit Road, lots of bars and restaurants, choose a hotel near to a Skytrain Station if you want to get to other areas. Have a look in Trip Advisor for some recommendations.
Or if it's a first visit, a hotel with a balcony overlooking the river can help with the heat and some lovely views.
if you're into cheap and sketchy you could also try out the Kao San road
if you're into better lodging try out Sukumvit though... if I'm not mistaken there's also the cuttest place called sukumvit 7 or somthing to that manner... it's designed as a whole little wooden village inside.
here's the best advise - no matter how special you might think it is - just skip taking a tuktuk. the taxis are air conditioned and cheaper!
Thank you, there,s a group of 4 lads taking off on a 6 month tour of drunkeness so we are gratefull for you advice.
