As i dont leave the house empty , its just another day really, i cook for hubby myself son and depending what shift my daughter is on her aswell, aslong as i make sure the breakfast things are washed and put away i walk out the door and leave .
We usually opt for a take away and one that required minimal clean up, after gutting the house I don't like to cook or have to do to much washing up.
I used to do the top to bottom clean before we went away. Don't bother so much now its only the two of us at home. We are usually finishing up all the bits that won't keep until we get back. If not enough 'bits' we have fish and chips, a treat, on the way home from dropping the cat off at the cattery.
I am usually too nervous to eat much, dont ask me why but always get nervous so tummy feels as if it is doing somersalts.
I hate the night before.

Takaway for me,,usually a pizza or burger or curry, mind you ive been on a diet upto the running of my holiday anyway, so I just think sod it my holiday starts now the night before..
I have to clean the house before I go away too. Coming back from holiday is bad enough in itslef, arriving to a messy house would make me feel worse.
We usually eat whatever is left in the fridge or freezer as we try to leave as little as possible in them. Then we wash up, clean the kitchen surfaces and empty the bins.. that's about it for cleaning as we'll always do a proper clean after we've been back a few days and got sand everywhere from unpacking the cases!
Not a lot really because I'm usually too excited to eat anything!

OMG I am so the same, I know it sounds silly, but I get nervous about leaving my family for two weeks, but I'm fine when I get there and then don't want to come home at the end of it!
We leave the house at about 11...drive to Gatwick (or Heathrow, depending).. stop off mid journey for a bar meal (usually around Thruxton or nearby) - then continue, usually arriving with no hassle at about 6... deposit the car in the long stay (wherever it is that year), then wander over to the terminal, use the early baggage check-in facikity, do our check-in (if I haven't already done it on line)....then go for a look around the shops, a few drinkies, then a meal, more drinks and so to bed, usually for an early morning flight...
Having spent the day before cleaning the house from top to bottom, we too have a takeaway (usually a Pizza) as I don't want to do much washing up.
Normally stay over night at an airport hotel the day before my jollies, so it is a trip to the nearest pub for a relaxing meal and a few drinks before an early night.
Pack my suit case, and hand lugguage, and cothing I am going to wear, leave on top of suit case
I can now relax, so go up to town, have a meal then go to pictures, get home for 12ish, and go to bed, if I can sleep
I always have the arguement with my mum that there's no need to tidy up like a crazy person the night before going
Don't really give it that much thought but something not too heavy on tum and easy to clean up.
