Where abouts is Orphanannies, we are staying in the Paphos area.

Familiar with the harbour, tomb of the kings, but its been 10years since our last visit

Orphanides supermarket.

If you know the Tombs road, go towards Coral Bay two hundred meters from traffic lights look to the right for the Phuket restaurant, turn there up that road about two hundred meters again on the right hand is Orphanides.

The other Orphanides is opposite the Fire Station in Pafos in Makarios avenue (out towards the airport road)..

E and S is almost as good as Orphanides (correct spelling. Orphanannies is a nickname that's been used for decades by service people.) It is on the right as you go from the harbour towards Pano Paphos (the old town.)
Also on that road, on the left, is a Zorpas bakery which is possibly open 24 hours (except sundays.)

To show total impartiality, Papas (Papantonios) is also a good chain of supermarkets as is (or was, before Gallic intervention) Chris's Cash and Carry. (Open to the general public despite the C and C bit of the name.

Mark acording to the boss ''Papas' is still the best by a mile...me I don't do shopping...never!

Only ever used Papas once. We stumbled upon the one on the Polis Road when we were on a shopping foray a few years back.
The others are always handier.
Must admit, it seemed fine. But, I'm no expert. I just pilot the trolley and fill it with non essentials, which get promptly removed. (Plus the occasional essential; beer, cakes etc, which Trish knows better than to remove!)

I have already stated one reason for taking supplies, the other reason is we have a young daughter with severe feeding difficulties. One of the foods she can eat is marmite and peanut butter. Having not holidayed in Cyprus before we didnt want to risk not bringing it to find we couldnt buy it. Last time that happened we ended up in hospital with her on a feeding tube after she hadnt eaten in 7 days.

Look, i dont mean to sound offensive but can i not just ask a question on the forum without having everyone need me to give reasons as to my simple question? Its hard enough as it is.

Sorry, its been a stressful day and i just came home to two pages of everyone thinking we are 'typical' english guys who wont eat foreign food. Nothing could be further from the truth. Honestly.

Hi Daisy, I sympathise with you as we always take supplies with us , so that we can have a cup of tea and our breakfast in the morning. I can't see that it's any different to taking sun tan lotion or toothpaste - you can buy those in Cyprus, but I expect that the majority of people still take some with them.

Daisy..

I am sure all the replies here have been very fair to you and most of us are saying that all the food stuffs you asked about are available here, we shop here every day remember and most UK foods you are used to can usually be brought locally, Marmite is available in all the bigger supers now, as is the rest of your needs, we are not on the moon here it is almost more British than the UK..you will be surprised Brits outnumber the locals in supermarkets, do expect to pay a little more for imported UK brands though.

Have a good holiday.

I always take a small tube of english mustard with me,can't live without the stuff and must have it on a sandwich for lunch,I know I can get it in the resort but I really can't be bothered moving from my sunbed.

You can buy huge jars of Colman's in any supermarket here...or the small tubes and as I prefer lose powder..

I think the point is being missed here ....

Cyprus is an island. There are food restictions. From memo, meats and dairy products, but cannot be certain.

What I can remember, there are very heavy penalties for breaches.

Therefore for a definitive answer on what can be taken into Cyprus, please contact the Cyprus Embassy in London.

Family and friends always bring back out here pork pies, good English sausages, black puddings etc and other meat products...never had any problems at all...these you cant get here of any quality...only reason to bring food here.. :P
