The cost of everything has gone up, and the huge increases in fuel costs has to be passed on.

No such thing as a cheap holiday now :(

Where are you flying from, between what dates, for how many nights and for how many people ?

Thinking 7 nights, 21st Sept, 2 ppl, all inc. Not definite, just thought I'd look into the possibilities

Despite the credit crunch, holiday prices have risen way above the rate of inflation due to the weak pound against various other currencies.

Europe is becoming a very expensive destination and this seems to have had an effect on many other popular destinations including Egypt and my beloved Goa. My holiday has gone up 14% against last years price, OUCH! :cry

Yes its crazy. this year I am paying £1743 for 4 of us 2 weeks AI in Sharm, the same dates next year are £2500!! Thats way over the top I think!!

Its more so because of the fuel prices. Any discounts you have isnt off the fuel. It also goes on how long you are travelling eg, hours in the air, and you pay extra charges if in premium seats, upper class etc. For next year for us to go :offtop to California its costing us £800 etc for fuel. If you are travelling less than 9 hours you are not hit as bad, but still increased holiday prices to be had. Book up early if you can, because if you book up late......you will pay a lot more.

it`s cost us abt £2700 this year for sharm. priced it for next year and it`s only £40 more expensive and we would get a better room!!! for next year the flights are with Thomson and the room with med hotels using Med Summer 10 for a 10% discount. the flights are the same as this years, and the hotel will be £40 dearer.. just afraid that Thomson may charge more as the months go on..

I know fuel costs etc have gone up but I just can't imagine they've had that great an effect. What really annoys me is the way fuel suppliers are making massive profits compared to last year!
Well I may have to give Egypt a miss this year- it works out cheaper to go to the Maldives later in the year!

I also think some of this will be greed on the part of the TO's, how many times in recent months have you opened a travel suppliment or similar newspaper article only to be greeted with headlines stating Egypt and then Tunisia as highly recommended destinations in order to avoid the Euro zone.

I agree some of the cost increase is down to fuel surcharges but some of it is due to increased publicity and the TO's bumping up the price as much as market demand and exchange rate fluctuations in Europe/Worldwide will allow.

If people are not willing to pay the prices, they will come down. Its always a chance waiting until the last minute, but at these prices they will have to sell the vacant rooms somehow!
They may even sell them off cheap to the East European holiday companies.

when we went to hilton sharks bay two years ago it was £380 each for one week.we then went again for ten days and then twelve days and paid £580 and £600 respectively. it is now £760 for one week! is this down to the great reviews? we have booked to go to the calimera royal diamond for 11 days in october and paid £590 each-hope its as good!

i believe the prices in Egypt went very low after terrorist attacks because nobody was going. Now people seem to be happily booking to go there again, they can put the prices back up to their proper levels.
