Hi,
Just trying to sort out things to pack for new year, flying out on 29th Dec for a week, staying in Los Cristianos. 1st time ive been to tenerife, and away somewhere warmer than the uk at this time of the year.
What clothes do i pack? Do i need things like jeans, jumpers, boots etc for the evening? is it shorts and t-shirts in the day time?
What will the weather be like for this time of year?
Any advice would be appreciated, only want to take what i need.
Many thanks in advance.
Theresa
I have been in March and April as well as the summer, to Tenerife and February to Lanzarote.
I was told it would be warm in the day and "chilly" at night needing a cardigan, so that sounds ok to me so I'm "thinking" of taking summer(ish) clothes for the evening, eg: linen trousers, long linen skirt, smart jeans and popping a cardi on top of that. Wearing sandals too I hope
I think that winter evening stuff that you'd wear here may be a bit too much over there. Anyway we plan to sit inside in resturants, bars etc.
In Feb, March and April I have done much the same...oh, I did feel cold in bed at night so am taking long P.J's
Deffinately sunbathing during day when the suns out all being well but perhaps not actually swimming. Taking shorts for the day also three-quarter length jeans incase its not so good.
Hey guys that sounds fine. I was there last Christmas and it was shorts on the beach weather during the day, but definitely long trews and shirt/cardi/jacket in the evening
Well thats ok then, throwing on a cardi is better than chucking on a coat gloves and scarf over here, brrrr
I live in tenerife and i can tell you that it is fairly cold now at a night, the weather is v good in the day, you will be able to do some sunbathing so dont forget your bikinis!!
thanks for that but will spring/summer type clother with a cardi be ok? Sandls etc, I just think that boots etc would look odd in Tenerife
But no, sandals will be fine, as long as it doesnt rain and spring summer clothes are exactly right for this time of year.
I hope you have a good holiday and the weather holds for you.
for day wear i just took the usual small skirts and t-shirts.
For evening i packed 1 pair jeans (never without them even in summer)
2 pair cut of jeans. 3 skirts, 1 pair high heel sandale 1 pair wedges.
For tops i just took strappy tops, and some short sleved shirts.
i also put in 2 spring type cardigans.
I only took the cardigan out 2 nights running as the wind had got up a bit.
Always remember it is much warmer there than it is here.
Also it depends on what person you are i'm a cold person but i found it warm.
We also have been in january before and i still take the above
hope that helps.
I am flying out on the 29 Dec too!! Its really hard to imagine wearing summer clothes when its so cold here. I dont think it's even got light today. But 2 weeks and i'll be (I hope)..
That sounds about right.
Im taking jeans, one blue one white , linen skirts, one short one long, linen trousers, three quarter length jeans, with nice tops, strappy mostly and a couple of light cardis, plus the usual stuff for the daytime.
Also too many pairs of shoes and will end up wearing one pair due to the steep hill, lol...I never learn
live in tenerife and i can tell you that it is fairly cold now at a night
not as cold as it is here.
take a look at the night time temperatures for us then you.
But when your coming from a cold country i think that you appreciate the warm more than someone who lives there.
I think that most people would be ok with a light weight cardigan. Remember your in pubs and the temp is warm there.
i wish i was walking home tomorrow night in tenerife then in the freezing cold that is home.
But i will be back in march.
Thanks everyone for the posts. its given me a better idea of what to pack now, was unsure before, now will have to try them all on ( summer clothes) to see if they still fit.
Happy christmas to everyone.
Theresa
Hi...I go to Tenerife on a regular basis and always carry my pashmina (large scarf/wrap) in my bag. I regard it a my 'blanket' and wrap it around me if we end up sitting on the beach front or end up with a draughty table. I wouldnt be without it! I actually saw somelse using one first, and thought what a good idea.
