vicjayhay, are you wanting a package or DIY? I do DIY now as I get exactly what I want and always cheaper than a package. You have to watch for the cheap flights the day they go on sals or ASAP reserch where you want to stay then book and count how much you saved?? Or if its a package roughly work out what you want to pay do your homework and hope you can get what you want. Booking late is a gamble especially with children if they aren't happy well everybody's not happy!!! CBG

We always book our holiday early so we can get free child places. Hubby and I and our son and daughter in law always have a holiday in Apr/May. By booking early they have chance to save up and we manage to get 2 of the 3 children free - so save a lot of money. Denny

The week the brochure comes out - In all the years I have been booking (Whether package or flight n accomodation), I have booked up to 14 months in advance, - and I can honestly say I cannot remember one time the holiday going "Down in price", - it has always gone up! Eg: I booked a holiday last year 12 months in advance, within about 6 months the holiday had nearly doubled in price!

Its always paid for us anyway - booking early!

Probably be a package i go for because everythings included then, i am a bit of a worrier and I think it is less stress free this way,I no i am paying a premium for this, but i dont no that if i went diy all the kids clubs etc would be included in the price and i am looking at going high season andthe kids would be devasted if they missed out! :(
looks like i should start looking into what i want now and as soon as the brochures come out book up to get the best price :tup

We booked our holiday for this May last July and it has now gone down £600 for family of 5, so you can't always guarantee it, but if theres somewhere inparticular where you want to go I'd book earlier to avoid dissapointment. They usual have good deals on just after xmas as no-one has any money to book holidays :cheers

Hi, just wanted to add my thoughts...I'd say if you are booking for peak times, especially during school summer holidays, then book early. I booked my Aug 08 holiday end of Aug last year and within a couple of weeks it was fully booked. One thing to bear in mind though when you do book early is that the flight schedules are not confirmed and that your times and sometimes even day of travel can be changed by the tour op.

Thanks for all of your replies, I think i will try to book in advance, I have got agood idea of where i want to go,and as we are going with another family we want to get the best price we can, we left it to late to book for this year and when we did the hotels we wanted were'nt avaiable or the prices had rocketed, so we are staying at home this year :cry and are going all out next year and making sure it's a good one. :cheers
