I had this problem when my kids were younger. We got around it by going to either the Balearic Islands (we did Minorca and Ibiza) or the Algarve, as we felt the temperatures there were less fierce than Greece, Turkey, Cyprus in July and August. Also they have all different sorts of resorts, from quiet to lively you just have to research to find one that suits your needs. Another plus point is the short flying times. :D

We also went to France twice, but I know that's not everyones idea of a summer sun type destination. (It rained a lot on one of the hols)

Ive just come back from Lanzarote. Had a brill time 2 weeks in school hols, cost us £1700. I was astonished to find out that some others had booked for £89 per person which is a lot less than me. I was under impression that deals in school holidays dont really exist.

We would like to go away again at beginning of August, does anybody have any advice on how we could get a really cheap deal for family of 4 (2A,2C). I would like to pay less than £750, even cheaper would be brill. Any advice would be be very much appreciated, i.e how to book, when, which websites etc.[/b]

markfin.....think you ned to rub that lamp harder!!!
Only way think you will get those sort of prices is to go to the travel agent 48 hours before Hols start and see whats on offer!!
You may still be able to book DIY accomodation for less than £300 but would be pushed for cheap flights........
Good luck in your hunt,

Mark
ps, we booked 1 year in advance DIY to Majorca, last 2 weeks August 06
Flights + accom+taxi £850 2A+2C.....

Look on teletext about 3 weeks before you want to go.Thomson usually have good named late deals. The Canaries are usually cheaper in summer than winter months.
