Good time to visit Andaman coastline, so such places as Phuket, Krabi, Khao Lak,Ko Lanta. We've just come back from Ko Kho Khao north of Khao Lak. Every day sunny. Visited Similan Islands....wow.

I'll also put in a mention for Northern Thailand a really nice part of the country with lovely scenery and lots to see and do. You can of course combine it with the beach.

You dont have to follow the herd . . . . consider Koh Chang, Koh Mak or Koh Kood over on the east of Thailand near the Cambodian border.

hi helen - we usually go to goa in february and have decided to try thailand for a change, but we're not sure where to start . we would like a few days in bangkok and then about ten at a beach resort. we were wondering about the weather too, as its always dry in goa at this time. are you doing a package or diy?

The weather is great all over Thailand this period of the year so where to go is only depending on what you are looking for.
Try to read some guides for eg Phuket, Koh Samui, Koh Samet, Koh Chang, Khao Lak, and Krabi. Then you have covered most of what Thailand offers.

Good luck.

Why not give Hua Hin a few nights? I think its becoming more and more popular with expats. Its worth checking out as its so easy to get to from Bangkok.
If you were thinking of settling somewhere in Thailand, there are plenty condos around HH. (You probably know this already, but be very careful if thinking of buying. Condos are the safest bet but there are regulations for how much of each one should be Thai owned.)
We loved the range of restaurants and bars when there in the summer- certainly expanded from the last time we were there.
Good luck on finding somewhere to replace Goa.
