Am thinking of going to Crete this summer, wife and kids (13, 10). Have never been before, although several times to Cyprus.
Can the good people of this forum recommend places, with good beaches and good places to eat in the evenings.

Stallis has a great beach and as good a selection of restaurants as you're likely to find on the Greek islands.
Fairly lively but not rowdy. (if you're looking for a really quiet fishing village type of setting it might not be right for you)

Take a wee look at the San Constantine appartments in Gouves
(you will find them in the THOMSON broucher).
They are very nice apartments they are close to a lovely sandy beach.
And the staff are just great you will be made to feel so welcome and there
is always some kind of entertainment on for all ages.
Gouves is a very relaxed wee place and familys come back year after year.
Worth a look.
