I realised 3 in a room would be a squeeze when I read the reviews....so would need 2 twin rooms anyway... even if youngest cant go
I would love to be able to book it tonight ....would love to be able to afford to sqeeze it in next year ....but a I explained in my early post was sorting out my options for 2011...just didnt expect it to go so well so fast..I am shell shocked
Next year have already booked for 6 of us ....me hubby 3 of our sons and one of their wives(the other son staying to look after house an animals...took him away to pefkos this year)...AI in Playa taurito gran caneria for 2 weeks ...from the 19th july....
youngest will be going to fight in the world kick boxing championships again which are in france next year....so we need go there for a week...dont know exactly when ...wont know till long after christmas....only been told will be after kids go back school in september and before november....and so need keep sept and oct open ...untill I know whats going on....and its an expensive time as well as trip...so need watch the pennies...
It would be tight trying to squeeze another holiday in as well before we go gran caneria...cash wise as well as time wise...and most of my annual leave is already accounted for next year now too...only a few days left to use for things for unexpected celebrations ect...
Would have booked it for last 2 weeks in june 2011...but anything could happen between now and then.....know the airlines going there now to bodrum as I looked up a package...but havent got any further checking out flights...costs ect ...which could change by the time I want to go..
So am well upset now....but please pm me with email ect ...as soon as am sorted will need them...this holiday is so right for us...I will definately be following things up
ps....what are the special offers in may you mentioned...am really tempted to try squeeze a week just me and hubby
Tweetie Pie. I've probably missed it somewhere along the line but how old are your kids?
HI Pargaluvva...eldest is late 30's... then late 20's... then middle 20's ...then me baby who is 15 going on 25 an already trying to tell me what to do.....
Not too sure of the offers on in May but I can find out for you
£100 per week (guessing that for 2011)
Guessed you might be from Liverpool when you mentioned the airports you could fly from. i lived there aged 8 to 26 fab times and great memories...now live in Chester.
hi all...just found Manuela's site online....rooms look realy nice....double beds ...not twins...fine for us...lads wouldnt be happy there bad enough sittin on the couch together....definately would have video camera ready an running when they went in ....first thing youngest will say is "where's his bed " ....they are used to a room with 2 single beds......MHBTK ...Do they have twin rooms or are they all double beds....dont know which Id prefer now....suiting the boys or havin a laugh....somehow think the elder will be sleeping on the floor...
MHBTK....Found the site like I said last post....£50 per person BB plus a/c and safety deposit box for next may....that looks brilliant....whats weather like end of may...tweetie
We go in May weather beautiful.
Sea still cold to swim in, but nice for a paddle.
Some say the evenings get chilly but I have never had to wear a wrap at night maybe the vodka keeps me warm
I think it is a lovely time to visit (we were there three weeks this May.) It is the start of the season every thing is fresh and new and you are welcomed with open arms... also prices are cheaper this month.
£ 100 room
£ 468 cheapest flight with hold luggage
----------
£ 568
£ 80 transfers
£ 32 aprox in flight meals
-----------
£ 680
Could do ....but then its the spends....would be overstretched...got chrimbo to get through yet...and have had a heavy year cash wise .... it will be hard but better wait till can take us all in 2011...when you go for a week the costs of the flights weigh the price down....with only one hol planned for that year easier to do
They definitely have twin rooms, me and my friend had twin beds when we stayed.
You are right I love everything about the Peninsula, first holidayed here a few years ago and stayed in Gumbet, WOW, fabulous time, but even though we do AI, we jump on that Dolmus and just go, and the places we have discovered have been just wonderful.
I just like the idea of walking along a road, and BAM, there is another undiscovered little cove or bay, with a bar, few people and a big "Hello" from the guys who are there. A chilled efes or 3, a salad or even just a pide' to tide us over, and 2 or 3 hours talking about anything, usually the shock on their faces when they say "Where you from"? "Ah Manchester United" and we say "Galatasaray" the look on their faces is wonderful, it could be the other one Fenabachia (sp) sorry, then they think you are too good for words...................lol Me and him indoors just love the banter, and the chilled out doing nothing effect this region has.
We have stayed in Belek, Side, Lara Beach, Kemer, Olu Deniz and oh so many more places, but, nothing to compare to the Peninsula.
So yes, you are right, I will always wave the banner for this part of Turkey, and we will always, always come back.
Already booked for 2 stays next year.......I need a holiday......................
And Tweetie, I hope you can manage something for next year, would be lovely to experience all this, sooner rather than later, I will keep reading your up dates, have enjoyed them very much.
Cheers folks, and take care.
Ooh yes, my husband is a Fenerbahce fan, he loves it when people talk about them
I am a forward planner ...usually takes me ages deciding about things....If I buy something or decorate Ive really gone the whole hog choosing things...I dont really like change....and what follows is typical me..
A room in the house needs decorating...and decide its really badly in need of doing..
I really liked the way it was ...resist as dont really want it changed...and it takes me 12months to face up to the fact I have to do it
I then can take me 12mnths to decide on a colour scheme
Then another 12mnths to choose a wall paper paint ect
The curtains wont match... so spend 6mths looking for new ones...if its the living room...I probably wont find the colour I want in a size design I need...and so land up going big material outlet usually Abacan...spend all day getting material cotton ect to make my own..
Then I start the decorating...
So knowing me...when I renovated this house I had beams put in ceiling and walls..with rough plaster between ...which was painted cream...I got adventurous and painted the chimney breast wall pale terracotta pink after about 10 yrs which I mixed to suit myself because I didnt like the original colour after putting on the first coat...and mixed enough paint to redo it at leaste twice..
I had my wooden fire surround especialy made so I could incorporate some cast iron antique panels I'd wanted to use for years , and stained to match the beams skirting boards ect...coffee tables and other furniture have either been bought to match or Ive had it made and stained to match...Ive a 5ft fish tank in the room and had a carpenter make a cupboard base and hood and stained it to match...the setees are wood and leather now ( so they last ...as hated having to get a new one when the kids messed them up )...and I have now laminated the floor to match saves needing to choose new carpets..
Took a few years deciding on perfect first family hols....but then spent more than 10yrs going salou with same company ...the last one to salou was a big change ...we flew...was well proud of myself as booked flight and transfers my self ...but same firm same site for accomodation...the following year back with the package of coach and accomodation with same firm...but big change instead of salou went callella de parafrugel ( only cause lads fed up with salou and it had gone down a lot over the years...more rough and comercialised...and been thinking about trying somewhere else for a few years)
You know How I tick now
The last 12 months a switched has been flicked...and my world went daft...I havent had time to plan the way I usually do..last nov flew out to tolo in greece...though paid for earlier on in the year through lads kickboxing club I didnt know exact place or dates till about 4 months before....to do with security... Had no plans for this year as other plans needing the cash....but this august was in pefkos.....as in january eldest tells me he's at last getting married...so were all in same hotel he was sortin it...phone call about march ..all decide date in august he was in travel agents ....so I had to make fast desisions about what was on offer...then he just needed my card details to finnish my booking off .....had so much on my mind forgot was hubbies 50th this year...didnt want to do big family party ...so decided to do surprise one week hol just for us 2 ...which turned into one for us all...was on here for help and askin family...and landed up in playa taurito in gran caneria in july..
Nov...tolo in greece
July...gran caneria
aug....pefkos in rhodes
AND NOT ONE OF THEM PLANNED
Have had a brillant time this year
Let youngest decide for next year...and already booked...back to gran caneria same hols as in august but for 2 weeks this time...hubby moanin we back to the old routines and still pestering for turkey...which was the one place I really didnt fancy...but thought it would be a nice surprise for him if I took him just for a week...story told before earlier on some where
Then Im on here just sussing out what was possible....few days later Ive not only decided that Ive found our ideal family hols but all the details I need too....and my plans are already made for june 2011...right down to the hotel....cant believe Ive done that....all them decisions in less than 2 days
Is it something to do with my age ...

Thought I'd logged on to "60 Minute Makeover" then ....people say I am bad but you are worse than me at going all around the world to tell a story!!!
Glad to have been able to help you make your mind up.
I'm sure when you eventually get to Turkey you are going to LOVE it
While Im here...who have you lot found to be the cheapest airline for flights to bodrum...and when best to book if you were planning for june
http://www.skyscanner.net as you can do a comparison on there for the different flight companies. I've always found that booking early is the best - or leaving it right until the last minute but I never like to do that in case there are no flights available. We've already booked our flights for next year (end of April for 9 weeks and end of August for 9 weeks) and got really good prices. Mind you, 'cos we're going out for so long, we were able to pick and choose our flight days for the cheapest ones.
Tweetie Pie, I loved all your posts - I can't wait to hear your review of your holiday in Turkey
For flights from Bodrum we have always used either Thomas Cook or Onur Air as they always seem to come out the cheapest. Try using Tweetie Pie, I loved all your posts - I can't wait to hear your review of your holiday in Turkey
I have always booked with aegeanflights to fly with onurair, booked them the day they went on sale in June this year for 2010.Then we decided to go again next September also, booked them a couple of weeks ago,and the cheapest flights were booking with travelrepublic, should have waited until this week when easyjets went on sale from Manchester for Sept, half the price!didnt think they would be so cheap this year.
hi crispy...thanks for the info...doing DIY means venturing in fields Ive never been before...and it seems this is where the companies like travel republic are really useful ...but on the other hand the holiday industry is going through a bit of an unhealthy period and there's the worry about who could go bust next....and there's no way of being sure the one you use will still be trading by the time you travel...especially if you book early...people have booked one day and the company has gone bust the next...sadly its the little companies that are the ones more at risk....and they also seem the most difficult to deal with if things go wrong or they get things wrong...I have read lots unhappy posts ...as booking a main family holiday things need to be bomb proof or as near as is possible....if flights get messed up its a hard one to fix especially at short notice...so thats the bit I need be really careful about if booking early.
Ive been doing a few sums based on Manuela's room prices and info from you all about this years prices... and the flights I could find for the same dates next year...(Its a dummy run to get genned up for the following year...but wish it wasnt) to get an idea of what it will cost for the four of us for 2 weeks...here's the run down...what do you all think is it about right for 2 weeks end of june...thought it might be of interest to anyone following this thread...who might fancy doing it next year
HERE GOES THEN
£ 800 14 nights BB in Manuela's for 4
£ 160 transferes based on £40 quote by manuels..but ? if each return ..may only be £80
£ 920 flights x 4return ..thomas cook site..flying monarch.. dont think it was with meals and bags
£ 520 14 main evening meals meals including coffes and drinks (based on post) x 4 adults
£ 360 evening drinks 7 each night x 5lira per drink x 13 nights x 4 people..based on £25=60ish lira
£ 360 soft drinks odd pint/coctail tea/coffee or water during the day
£ 250 snacky lunches x 4 x 14 days
---------
£ 3470 sub total for a basic week
£ 100 day out to gumusluk to little house x4= meal + dolmus + bits n bobs
£ 30 papers each day
£ 200 boat trip x 4...peddallos ect
£ 200 to go exploring on he dolmus's
£ 500 for whatever
---------
£ 4500 = + + =
---------
So whats the verdict....anything else I should add on to do ...how much will it cost
Transfer=£40 return for 4 people, so thats an extra £120 in your pocket.
Boat trip nowhere near £200!!! but maybe water sports might be expensive.
Dolmus=very cheap.
Just to throw a spanner in the works if there is four of you going would you consider staying in an apartment it would work out a lot cheaper.
I think Kadi is right about the apartment too, you would probably pay half that price or less in an apartment that sleeps 4, we paid £125 per week for an apartment last year in Gumbet in high season.
