For past couple of years have been to the Hyatt at Taba Heights. Very tempted to go back again this summer, but have now visited the 'big' sites 'near' to this location (Cairo, Petra, Jerusalem) so this would be a total relaxation week. Alternatively fancy staying on the other side of the peninsula so that we could do a quick trip to the Valley of the Kings. If we did this we'd be looking for something of the same quality as the Hyatt with easy access to a beach to snorkel from and from where we could do a day trip to the VOTK (not bothered about long days travelling to get there). So where should we consider?

We are going to Taba Hyatt in 4 weeks and also Sheraton Miramar in El Gouna in August (both hotels built by same bloke they look really similar on the pictures) Iam sure they will be similar standards as everyone seems to really rate them both.

The Sheraton looks nice, but what's it like for snorkelling at El Gouna - looks to be man made lagoons with options of diving trips, but no mention of 'on site' reefs? Never tried diving due to dodgy ears, but love to snorkel which has always been one of the attractions of the Hyatt with its jetty. I guess there must be snorkelling trips from El Gouna - any idea of prices or prices for trips to the Valley of the Kings?
At the moment still need to be persuaded as the Shearaton is B&B (with Longwoods) and more expensive that the Hyatt, so for a family of 4 (our kids are now 'adults') this could all add quite a bit to the total holiday cost.
