if you are looking for a good deal i would book the flights with excel airways or bmi (from heathrow) accomodation i try broadwaytravel/medhotels/holidayhotels. of just do a search on the internet this will bring up loads of different companies. I have just booked a holiday to the aquasol self catering 25/07/2005-02/08/2005 for 2 adults 2 kids 11&6 the flights cost £540.80 and the accomodation cost £566.00, I have gone for 8 days as the flights worked out cheaper. the same holidays with thomas cook would have cost me over £1,900.00. also check peoples reviews on holidaysuncovered there is lots of good info especially when it tells you about all the noisy hotels and people coming in at all hours of thenight

I'm biased but have to suggest Santa Ponsa, one of the most civilized resorts in Mallorca. Easy access to the whole of the island - just 12 munutes drive into Palma and 20 to the airport - combined with a fabulous beach, good family restaurants and something to appeal to all age groups. Kids and adults alike seem to enjoy the open-air shows every night in the square, teenagers like the clubs, everyone likes the beach. It's less frantic than Magluf and Palma Nova and much warmer than the northern (and distant) resorts of Alcudia and Pollenca. At all costs avoid Cala Millor on the east coast - something like Blackpool on acid but without a decent beach, dreadful restaurants and tacky shops.

Hello everyone. I am new to this site and this is my first post. I hope you guys can help me.

My boys are aged 8 and 11 (will be 9 and 12 when we go) and want good recommendations for hotels by the beach in Alcudia please. I could search all day on the internet, but a message board like this will be the best place to ask direct questions and get good feedback from people who have been there recently.

Also, are there any hotels I should avoid?

Many thanks.

Last May I went to the Condessa de Bahia hotel in Alcudia. It was excellent and right on the beach. The children were entertained by the resident childrens entertainment team from morning till night. We saw the hotel on the Thomsons teletext pages on May day weekend at really good prices. We only paid £149 each and brochure price was over £300.Look at the reviews on here and holidays uncovered, they are all good.

Stayed at Condesa De La Bahia July last year with an 11 year old, lots to do for kids. Great hotel, literally 3 steps onto beach it was fantastic. The hotel is about 20 mins walk into Alcudia centre or less than 5 mins by bus. Great location for going into C'an Picafort to.

Would recommend.

Hope this helps

Hi,
I'm after some information and advice as to where would be a reasonably quiet hotel (not hilly or with any steep inclines), ideally an hotel that fronts a beach, good location for beach, shops and restaurants, but away from the night clubs. Reason for so much in the way of information is that my partner and I are taking her mother on holiday.

My partner's mother is semi-invalid (73) (has asthma and a bad leg), but she can get around otherwise quiet well and this will be her first time on this type of holiday. So the experience of booking the holiday, the airport, flying and an hotel in another country, eating out, sightseeing trips and some night entertainment will be exciting for her. Therefore we are trying to make this a memorable holiday (obviously for all the right reasons).

We propose to go probably the latter part of September this year, just for one week.

Any advice and information would be greatfully received.

Cheers :D

Hi there
My suggestion for a lovely clean resort, would be Can Pastilla - not a hill in site, ideal for walking. The sea front goes for miles with a pedestrian walkway running by the sea. It is a lovely resort, I have been there 7 times now, it is also only a 5 minutes taxi ride from the airport. You do not even hear the planes!

If you want to know more feel free to ask

thanks

Hi sorry forgot to mention hotels,

We love the Hotel Anfora (try booking on Alpha rooms or Majorca accommodation.co.uk - it is on seafront, only 55 rooms and lovely food. Also Fontanellas Playa, which is in Playa de Palma ( this resort conties from Can Pastilla

hope this helps

We would thoroughly recommend the Hotel Talayot in Cala Millor. It matches all your requirements, to the letter. There are no hills and it is on the front with a promenade all the way along Cala Millor Beach.
We went on there on our first ever holiday abroad and have been back there every year since 1996. We even go back to the hotel now we have our own apartment in the resort.
Indoor and outdoor pools - very spacious and clean rooms. Staff can't be praised enough. Entertainment is varied but suitable for all ages - took my parents there 2yrs ago and they still rave about it. They are in their 70's.
Can book through Thomson or direct with hotel if you want to arrange your own flights etc (0034 971 585314)
All the best!

We would recommend the Levante in Cala Bona which is not far from the Talayot in Cala Millor, mentioned above, which can also be booked via Thomson. We are in our 20's but there were lots of elderly guests when we were there in November and everyone was having a great time. There is entertainment and bingo every night and it is near the promenade where there are lots of shops and restaurants. It's a Thomson Gold hotel so the facilities and attention from the staff are very good.

Jilljuk - sorry I may be going off topic but wanted to ask a quick question.

I'm so glad you replied to this question, because we are staying in Can Pastilla for the second week of our hols, booked through Alpharooms, in a complex called the Brasilia Playa. Do you know where it is and if its ok?
There are no reviews on here about it :(

Also would you mind giving me a quick rundown about restaurants and bars etc?

Very many thanks in advance - if you think we're off topic maybe you could pm me?

I would recommend one of the hotels on the front at Puerto Pollensa e.g. Daina or Miramar. The central area is pedestrianised. There are several large cafes/restaurants as well as the ones belonging to both hotels.

In the evenings there are plenty of people wandering up & down without itbeing noisy. In September there will be plenty of 'older' couples as well as some families. The view across the bay is stunning. If any kind of wheel chair etc. is needed, there are places that hire items out.

It is a beautiful resort & I would say a lot prettier than Ca'n Pastilla.
